Help? Trying to list international TB stallion w/ AQHA

I’ve been attempting for the last two months to list Wilawander and Laurie’s Crusador with AQHA for breeding purposes.

I finally got a solid contact in the breeding management office at Celle. They’ve been extremely helpful as has the Canadian Hannoverian office.

AQHA requires the following…

  1. Photos
  2. Copy of Studbook Pages (I assume I contact Weatherbys and the GER TB assoc?)
  3. Copy of Passport or Thoroughbred Registration Papers.
  4. Letter from Stallion Owner asking AQHA to list for breeding purposes.

So the sticking point, Celle no longer has any of the paperwork on either stallion. Does anyone know ANY WAY I could located a copy. I know its basically impossible. I’m just brainstorming here.

Have you tried contacting any of the registries they are approved with? I’mw wondering if they might have required copies as part of the approval process and could potential have helpful information. I would try the Hann. Verband and KWPN in Europe and see if they have any ideas. Both have been very helpful with my questions over the years and very responsive.

Thank you, I’m going to look up the contact info now and try that route.
I’m so used to dealing with AQHA where only owners can request information from registries and associations.

Hello,

I am from Germany.

You mentioned that you already contacted Celle Stud. I wonder that they can’t deliver photos and the full pedigrees, as they owned these two stallions and offered them for breeding.

Photos you can find here on this site of www.sporthorse-data.com. When you register (for free), you can watch all 3 photos of Wilawander, the same with Lauries.

Lauries Crusador | SporthorseData (sporthorse-data.com)

And here is the e-mail-address of the Hanoverian Association. The 2 stallions were licensed for this Association. Perhaps they can sent you the “Zuchtbuchauszug” (copy from the breeding book with pedigree and a confirmation of acceptance for this Association).

Do you have frozen semen from these 2 stallions?

Hope I could help a little.
Good Luck!

From what I remember reading Lauries Crusader did not freeze. And some other thoroughbred stallions used in Germany did not freeze either so this exercise might be a moot point.

Thank you for your reply, and also the correct term for the paperwork. That was the most difficult challenge, not knowing how to correct ask for what I needed.
I was able to get in touch with the breeding manager for Celle Stud. Unfortunately the needed paperwork has been lost over the years.

AQHA is too old fashioned I think, the amount of information they ended up needing was ridiculous.

  1. Copy of Birth Papers (Thoroughbred assoc)
  2. Copy of Studbook Page (Thoroughbred assoc)
  3. Copy of Passport
  4. Signed letter from owner requesting horse be listed, and authority to obtain DNA.
  5. Four color photos.

Luckily I found someone in 2006 from Germany started the process with Likoto, I just had to fill in the DNA blanks with frozen semen. I should be able to use Likoto and register the foal. I’ll know in 4-6 weeks if the paperwork goes through.

I didn’t purchase the Laurie and Wilawander frozen, as there will never be the change to try it for an AQHA foal.

I’m wondering what other Dressage Thoroughbred stallions might be available for frozen import though, to see who I might be able to list with AQHA. The owner of Future Prophecy are speaking with me. The owner of Duke Of Hearts doesn’t seem interested, which I understand, the paperwork is daunting.

If you know of any other Dressage type TB over there I’d love to know!

Hi!
AQHA is too old fashioned I think, the amount of information they ended up needing was ridiculous.
And the registration papers have been lost now, the breeding manager at Celle Stud attempted to locate them for me (Lauries Crusador and Wilawander). So it is not possible to try.

I’d known LC didn’t freeze well, I was willing to take the chance on a dose as my mare is super fertile and I’m around Ocala with access to great vets.

Luckily it looks like I will be able to use Likoto, someone started to list him years ago and I’m working on filling in the blanks now.

If you know of any Dressage type TB stallions with frozen available to import I’d love to hear more names! I’m also looking stateside to see whats floating around here.
