Help! Twisting Cross Country Boots.

Okay I have a crooked legged horse that interferes with her self a lot. All the cross country boots I’ve tried are turning. Any suggestions with things to try and line her boot with to prevent turning?

What type of boots have you been trying? I have a horse that interferes a bit behind and have been using the Professional’s Choice Pro Performance boots with much success: http://profchoice.com/i-20607012-pro-performance-xc-boots.html. I’m always used to placing the boot on the leg and then sliding it down a little to the right spot and then doing up the straps. And I had to get used to putting this boot exactly where I want it, because it doesn’t want to slide down. The one thing I did learn was that I needed to do up the velcro, then do something else, and then tighten the velcro before taping them up and heading out on course.

I use the premier equine air flow boots, and with the way they are shaped I have a hard time thinking how they would spin since there is a hard shell around the tendon. Smartpak has them, you could always try those and if they didn’t work, they would take them back!
I haven’t had any issues with them slipping, rubbing, or doing anything else weird-mine are on their third season of use and are still in great shape!

Unfortunately my premier equines spin, and my horse doesn’t have particularly funny shaped legs.

You could try using tubi-grip under the boot to prevent them from slipping…?

I actually have the premier’s, for the fronts. The hard shell tendon track freaks me out to think about it spinning every time I put them on. It cannot feel good for my horse.

Did the tubi-grip work for you? I have also tried Tri-zones. Would SmartPak take them back even after multiple uses? I tried putting vetwrap underneath them and taping them. So far nothing works, with the Premier’s or the Trizones.

I haven’t personally tried the tubi-grip, but I’ve seen a lot of riders use it. It’s a lot more clingy/elastic, so I think it would probably hold way better than vetrap.

Have you tried sprinkling baby powder on the inside of the boot before putting it on? I do that with my Premier XC boots and that does the trick

Those premier boots spun on my horse too, the hind ones. I quit using them and went back to plain old Woofs.

I didn’t buy fronts so they might have spun, don’t know. I already had some front-appropriate boots.
