Help/Vent/whatever Foster Dog is giving me a run for my money

Victoria Stillwell videos.
She used to have a show called
“It’s Me or the Dog”.

She did a lot of shows where the dog hated strangers/other dogs.

Basically she had the owner change direction if the dog got upset or tried to attack other dogs.

She also demonstrated how to train dogs not to attack or bark at strangers coming into the owners home.

I loved watching her show. I wish it was still on.

She is an excellent dog trainer. IMO.

There is also Brandon McMilian who used to be on Lucky Dog. I watched his show every Saturday until he left.

I found him be an excellent dog trainer as well. Although when he picked a dog from the shelter , he always made sure that it wasn’t aggressive or a fear biter before he would work with it.

He has videos on YouTube as well.

Granted I only saw his TV show which are always edited ,but his training methods seem consistent.

Good luck. Cute dog.

I don’t know how to multi-quote but the quote above and the other that said there was a week of growling and biting at everyone in the household…

I do not believe this dog should be adopted out. A Prozac, a hamburger, and a needle may be kinder for the dog and the community. :broken_heart:

I wouldn’t want to adopt this dog. I wouldn’t want a friend to adopt this dog. I wouldn’t want a neighbor to adopt this dog. I say this as someone who has BTDT and learned the lesson. :orange_heart:

Yeah, she’s not a redline dog by any means. I fostered one of those. He was put down. Totally unpredictable and actually aggressive.

She is just under socialized, lived in a crate for a year, and zero training. Scared of the world. She’s very readable and predictable. She is the sweetest thing and wants to please. She likes her groomer and is decent at the vet.

We have made great progress and I don’t hold it against her that it took her a week to settle. My beagle took months, but we were his fifth home in 5 years.

The hardest thing will be to find someone knowledgeable about doggie body language to continue her training.
