Help with TS fit?

I have always loved Tailored Sportsman breeches. But ever since they changed over from the old high-waisted saggy-butt style to the Trophy Hunters, I’ve been struggling with the fit.

I’m 5’5, so probably the regular length is what I need. Size 28 fits, so we’re looking at 28R. But here are my issues…

I have a pair that’s low rise front zip. The low rise barely covers my big butt. If I weren’t wearing a tucked in shirt, you’d be seeing plumber crack in the saddle. Not cute.

I have a pair that’s mid rise side zip. They fit well, but the rise (crotch) is too long. Not cute.

So what size/style DO I need??? Anybody here a TS expert? I’m so far from a decent tack store that I haven’t been able to just try a bunch on.

I heard somewhere that SmartPak offers free shipping both ways. Is that true? Maybe I just need to order a bunch and figure it out!

I only wear TS breeches these days. Hate to say it but maybe you need to move up to a 30. I can’t otherwise figure out why the crotch would be too deep in a mid-rise TS. Agree the old low rise TS’s were awful. But low rise anything is ridiculous.

I too preferred the old “cheap” (er) $100-and-change cut TS’s but cest la vie. Never had a pair of TS’s with saggy butt.

I can’t wear TS to save my life. They make me look like a stuffed sausage. Try other brands. Pikeurs are the only brand that fits me.

Low rise fits me great. Same for the RJ classics Harrisburg . The mid rise looks like high waisted pants on me. Just because you can’t fit them doesn’t mean they are ridiculous.

OP, try a 18 child’s. I fit a 16, which is a 26 short. Try the mid rise in front zip too.

I just bought the Smartpak Hadleys in a 28R and love the fit. Just a tad more room to move in them. Yes, free shipping both ways

I would try the mid front zip. I absolutely hate how I look in side zip.

I was sick of trying to find TS that fit right ( I too miss the $100ish TS breech, those actually fit me). I ended up buying the ariat tri factor breech and I love them. Euroseat, tech fabric, wide waistband, lowishh rise. Might be just a touch baggy in the front of the rise but if your a bit curvier they would probably fit great. I am 5’4" 125 and I bought the 28R.

The older TS models fit me perfectly. Not the Trophy Hunters. So I buy mine on ebay. I have gotten some good deals, some on new pairs with tags.

Sounds like you need a mid rise in a short length. It will make the rise a little shorter as well as the length. We sell a ton of shorts at my tack shop. Not many places carry them. We do them in colors and tan. If I can help, let me know.
