I am currently trying out a Voltaire saddle. My question is regarding the front vertical panel. When I am not sitting in the saddle, the panel sticks out about 1/2-1 inch from my horse’s side. Is this something to be concerned about? 9092005402161333767|230x500
Thanks for any help!I am no saddle fitter, but my (beloved) Voltaire did the same thing on my new horse. Over time, the shorter tree points were pressing down into the top of his shoulder, causing him to hollow and lose his topline. Saddle fitter quickly diagnosed he was in a lot of pain, so we had to abandon the Voltaire. YMMV - and no doubt other COTHers will have more specific expertise.
I’m not a saddle fitter, but you’re correct that the panel angle is too obtuse for your horse. Voltaire reps seem eager to order buyers a new panel, but first, I’d make sure that the panel angle is the only problem with the fit of this saddle and that a new panel would actually be distributing weight in the right direction (rather than just ordering a thicker panel to fill in that void).
I absolutely love the saddle but worried about this.
