Does anyone know how to fix warped reins? I have a really nice dark leather bridle with laced reins, but the reins are slightly warped so that it always looks like the rein is twisted. Sadly, this is my show bridle :no:. I’ve tried oiling/conditioning it to try and make it untwist, but it hasn’t worked so far. Any suggestions?
This probably won’t work if it’s twisted where the hook closures are but what about oiling/conditioning the twisted part, wrapping it in something that won’t let the oil ooze out (thick drape cloth plastic used for covering stuff when painting or an old shower curtain, etc), then laying it flat on a hard surface and putting something heavy on top? Leave it for a week.
Take them in to a leather worker (harness, saddlery etc) - if you’ve no one local, look around online.
