Unlike one poster who is a COTH “veteran,” having joined four whole years ago.
OP will never get our opinions on this because they aren’t educated enough to know what they are looking at.
They say no force and no previous training yet these horses clearly demonstrate the use of ropes, pressure and release, body cues and previous training.
OP thinks an annoyed stressed horse is a happy horse moving freely. Etc etc
Ding ding ding!
It’s all marketing.
The OP is either an employee or brain-washed groupie that is beyond help. I read the entire thread in two days. The amount of times the criteria was adjusted to so that “the Master” is the only one that can work with horses is such a way is astounding and I am reading posts from the CoTH collective saying to myself, you guys are smarter than this. OP does not understand horses at all and has been enamored by the master.
How has the OP never heard of Monty R, Buck B, Pepperoni, Anderson C, Warwick whatshisname? … and countless others since they claim to be involved with horses at least 15 yrs yet does not ride due to not mastering some sort of arts first. Are they living under a rock? OR its his kid.
Its all PR hogwash to get his name coming up the SEO search ladder because a book is apparently coming out with new and ‘significant historical and intellectual connections in the near future’.
Or he, or the publisher of the upcoming book, has a press agent?
Suspect “Janny” is the OP here.
I’m late to this party, but horses in these…partnerships…whatever…always look irritated. A lot of tail-swishing and ears back and just a general look like they wished the person trying “be with them” would just knock it off already.
Mine would follow me around if I had a pocketful of treats, but he’d be irritated that I wouldn’t just let him stand there while I shoved them into his mouth one-by-one. No tricks, lady. Just treats, got it?
He’s a very happy, balanced, normal horse. He likes being ridden, likes being groomed, and is respectful of humans. I see no reason to screw all that up by trying to “be with him” in some other way. And he certainly doesn’t need to learn to rear on command or whatever other nonsense. I feel like a lot of this type of training is ego-driven and pointless. Maybe the human gets a thrill from it, but I think the horses look about half pissed off most of the time.
OH PLEASE.
I guarantee you that I am unfortunately neither KFH nor Janny. It appears that you have not familiarized yourself with Hempfling’s work, as his books exhibit a remarkable level of style and dignity. It is highly unlikely that he would engage in such a low-level discussion. I must question the image you have and your suspicions of successful individuals.
Look at the amount of effort you have been investing in this thread, I would have been stopping a long time ago by now but I feel compelled to counter these infantile comments, which clearly suggest my words have struck a nerve with you. Your tendency to attribute these remarks to KFH or his team demonstrates a character inclined toward conjecture, insult, and baseless accusations, further emphasizing your infantility.
To gain a better understanding of Hempfling’s persona, I recommend watching his movie ‘Horseland,’ in which he is providing insights into parts of his philosophy, so that you can get a better idea of the high philosophical level on which he operates:
Additionally, you may find value in watching this clip, called KFH explains KFH IV – The True Art of Leading a Horse:
Consider whether someone of his caliber would involve themselves in such an infantile undertaking. Reflect on the initial high-quality text from his Facebook page that initiated this discussion and observe how far we have regressed since then.

This is the scene in which he is moving nowadays and what he is occupied with, so no wonder that he hasn’t been very active in the horse-world. His work with horses is accounting for only a fraction of his endeavors.

Look to the guy, look at his unwavering commitment to excellence, to the movie Horseland with his quotations and parts of his philosophy. Considering the eloquence, quality and depth demonstrated on Hempfling’s homepage and in all of his works, do you really think that he would stoop to the level of our current discussion?
This reeks of desperation.
ETA or just reeks.
Rarely have I witnessed such unabashed self-promotion.
The castigation, rife with scorn for our penniless, low class, unsophisticated nature, is a particularly nice touch.
WUT
Ah. I think we now see the true agenda. Human potential coaching. And yeah reeks of desperation. This stuff is an internet plague these days. I suppose next we’ll hear that Hempfling invented the human potential movement.
This spiel includes the not very subtle directive that money cannot buy happiness. Therefore send it to me.
Why not label yourself a life coach or, dare I say it, philosopher? What qualifications do you actually need?
“I am a philosopher, because I say I am. I minister to the rich and soulless. Oh, and I encourage stallions to rear.”
Well bless your heart…
This has been one big boring commercial, right up there with the My Pillow guy.
Indeed. At what point does it become blatant advertising?
My conservative estimate is that about fifty percent of people who list their jobs as “Life Coach” or any number of equivalents are, in fact, chronically unemployed. We can thank Owen Wilson’s character in “You, Me, And Dupree” for the concept.
