Henny leads after dressage in Rocking Horse Adv division: Maybe life is looking up

This has been a bad winter for me personally. A bunch of people I know have died (both relatives and friends). My beloved mare colicked and was euthanized not even 2 weeks ago. The crappy weather has barely let up long enough to get a ride in here in MD. I have been coughing for a month.

However, I see a glimmer of hope for 2014 being better than its sucktastic beginning: Henny is leading his advanced division at Rocking Horse HT with a 32.1 after dressage. Usually, he wows us by jumping up 15 places by the end of XC.

I want to see him kick a$$ and take names at WEG this year.

Feeling better already. Go Henny Go!

Yay! Run Henny Run!!!

Aw man, Lori B, sorry the rough road. Sounds like you’ve been through the ringer. Thanks for the bright news about Henny, hope those two serve it up!

And Henny leads wire to wire to win his Advanced division at Rocking Horse II. Dressage score in the low 30s makes him a whole nother kind of competitive.

Wooooot!

Yay for Henny. LoriB, I am so sorry for the rough start to your year. So sorry about your mare. This is the mare that you nursed through a long unsoundness isn’t it? How heartbreaking…

Yes, it was Katy, I’m so sorry to say. She has had 4 other colics in the past 5 or so years that were nothing like the one 2 weeks ago, which we know from the necropsy was the result of a twist in her small colon. She was in so much pain, we couldn’t stabilize her enough to trailer her to Leesburg safely, and I didn’t think she was a great surgical candidate anyway, having had so much trouble just keeping her healthy in better circumstances. So we chose to euthanize her where she lived on Feb. 2.

I miss her, and it is very sad.

So sorry . . . :frowning:

Hopefully, the year will be better from here on out.

Lori, count me as another long time fan of you and Katy. So very very sad to hear this. I hope this year brings you some healing and some joy with horses, in some way.

Lori so sorry to hear of the loss of Katy. I am sure that’s a tough one to swallow. I know from reading your posts that Katy would never have been in doubt of your love of her.

Many Jingles for your heart to recover from this.

Emily

PS: RUN HENNY RUN… It’s the chickens

asterix, xctrygirl, acm – I am doing ok. I have been out to ride once, and will go later today. Zeke is giving me a little happy horse time. Zeke is a therapy horse at a place out in Montgomery Co. who needed some regular riding, and I’ve been riding him since Nov., since Katy has been retired for over a year. He’s a character, and fun to be around. Just the ticket for me right now. Thanks all.

I’m so sorry for your very sad start to your year, Lori B.
