Herbicide sprayer for tractor?

Do I want a 3 point hitch mounted sprayer, or a tow behind? What type/make/source do you recommend? I don’t need a huge one, because I have some tighter spaces to take this rig… it’s not all “groomed” and flat hay field. They all seem to have “wands” that fold out on either side of the sprayer (which is OK, as long as they aren’t huge). It’s rough pasture mostly, growing far too many weeds. I’m using graze-on.

I’ve been using a back pack sprayer, but would like to upgrade. Input?

Tow behind is more versatile in the sense that you can pull it with more things.

3 point will get you all the way into your corners easier, and maybe be easier to calibrate the sprayer to.

Between the two I’d get a tow behind, personally.

I have owned both tow behind and three point. I much prefer my three point sprayer. It’s a 40 gallon Fimco with fold out booms, plus a wand spot sprayer. There is a brief learning curve while you figure out how to maneuver with the booms extended, but it is helpful that they are spring loaded and automatically fold in if you hit a tree or fence. I’ve been using mine for ten years with my Deere 1025R tractor and have not had a single problem with the sprayer.

An advantage vs tow behind for me is the smaller size for storage of the 3 point model. I am short on covered space for tractor implement storage at my barn, so I put the sprayer on a moving dolly and roll it against a side wall of my garage and still have plenty of room to park a car in that parking slot. With it there I also don’t have to worry about trapped water freezing during the winter.

I could have written this. 100% to everything here. I use it on a JD 2320. I also have it on a dolly for storage, and it’s a lot easier to store than a tow behind. It’s also nice that I can change the height of the wands, by lifting or lowering the 3 pt. I don’t think a tow behind has that adjustability?

I have pulled the outer nozzles off a couple times getting the boom too close to the fence. Ooops. Tractor Supply has parts and it’s an easy fix. I’m more careful now.
