AKA Remitting Seronegative Symmetrical Synovitis with Pitting Edema. Anyone familiar with this one?
My mom has been in and out of the ER and was admitted for a couple days the week after 4th of July with major symmetrical swelling in feet/ankles and wrists/hands, along with pain, redness and fevers. Antibiotics didnt help. She thank goodness was able to get in the week after she was discharged with a newer rheumatologist just starting his practice…mine couldn’t get her in until May of 2025.
In any event, the Rheum suspected this and confirmed after a bunch of testing/ultrasounds. Shes on a 6 week course of prednisone which is helping a ton. The dark side is this could caused by something random or cancer. She’s getting some ultrasounds tomorrow to confirm tumors or not. She had clear mammograms and colonoscopy in Jan 2024 and last year so thats good. If its not cancer it seems to have an decent prognosis with many patients achieving remission within a few months to a couple of years (the couple of years isnt so decent).
Anyone familiar with this? My dad and I are calling it C3PO syndrome
