Here's to the country neighbour!

I just want to say thanks to our fellow horsey neighbours. Mine today saw that we were trying to load my youngster and dropped in to lend a supportive hand.

You cannot possibly repay these kind, selfless individuals who have umpteen years of experience and knowledge and are willing to lend a hand.

I am truly lucky. Which I am repaying with alcohol! (That I also need from my worrying!) so sorry for misspelling!

Nice that there are people who still care.

I should also say that she is the one, when new to the neighbourhood, came by when she saw the blue tarp a few years ago. When the guy came to get my love for cremation, she asked if she could go out (husband was but I friggin couldn’t ), and said she wanted to make sure he was taken with dignity.

Holy hell if you have these people in your life please be grateful.

Anyone else have a great neighbour?

We just moved from a neighborhood with great neighbors. Everyone looked out for everyone else and it felt like a real community. My most immediate neighbors weren’t horse people but had 5 acres and wanted my horses to come over and graze so they could enjoy the horse sights and eat down the grass - we were more than happy to oblige! We’d look out for each other’s pets in a pinch, and I’m pretty sure the man would give Mac carrots every time he went for his daily walk by my fence. Great, great people whom I miss already.

We haven’t met our new neighbors in person yet, but hope to soon. With each of us having 20 acres or more, it isn’t quite the “neighborhood” vibe that we had when everyone had 5 acres.

I love all of our neighbors. Except the ones I had to call the dog catcher on. Even people that are just in our general neighborhood of a few square miles are awesome. We really do try to repay, especially during calving season when the beef guys need colostrum or calves. DH is late home tonight because a guy 2 miles away needed to put a calf on a cow that lost one, so he stayed to load him up a bull calf we had born today.

We have WONDERFUL neighbors here in Oklahoma…wind, rotten weather, tornados, black muck…but the people are fantastic. Almost makes up for everything else…Almost…

I am in TN and we have the best neighbors in the world. We live in a tiny community, way back in a hollow with only 15 houses on our 2.5 mile, one lane road. The people here are kind, but not intrusive, and willing to lend a hand at the drop of a hat.

I know we are truly blessed!
