Heritage or Ideal Saddles?

I am taking on a training project pony from a friend. The problem is that he is quite a bit wider than my guy. I don’t want to spend a lot on a different saddle as I am hoping he won’t be on my feed bill very long. There is a woman with a Heritage jump saddle and an Ideal dressage saddle for sale locally that I am eyeballing. The Ideal is on a “Highland & Cob” tree. Can anybody tell me about the quality of either of these saddles?

I purchased an inexpensive Ideal off Ebay after a long & extensive search. Fits my wide/round short coupled youngster like a glove. The freedom of shoulder movement is great & the wide gullet is pretty nice. Really starting to love these English made saddles, especially for this type of cob fit.

Cons- leather quality is average & feels like iron… I also needed an Acavallo pad for the hard seat. Resale will probably be pretty low due to the lack of name recognition.

Good luck in your search.

What seat size are you looking for?

I’ve owned an Ideal VSD saddle for 14 years. Bought new. Its used on an Irish Draught. It is the wider fit and was slightly adjusted with some re-flocking to suit.
I find the leather to be very good quality, its still really supple and in great condition, despite my general procrastination where regular cleaning of the tack I use every day is concerned
Considering how much it is used and abused it could still sell as ‘little used’ because its stood up so well.

Yes, I found the websites. I was more looking for personal reviews on the quality of the saddles.
