I keep reading about how the video was from four years ago. Are we really expected to believe that CD has done nothing similar in the ensuing four years? I, for one, am not that naive.

And are we to expect that no other riders at the top of the sport have been as equally harsh or more so? Probably some that signed that letter condemning it. I am not that naïve either.
I was at 2010 Aachen and then at WEG Kentucky a few months later and saw Totilas go both times. The entire crowd, including me, was in awe of his movement. Knowing how that turned out for the horse I feel a little sick. It’s a systemic problem, not just of one person. I don’t think Isabell Werth has been so nice to the horses all the time in the past either. Not that I am giving Charlotte a pass but we can’t all be like whew, good thing we found the one that was doing the abuse, we can all feel good about dressage now.

I read somewhere, on one of our local “up there with the news” FBers that the video metadata does support it being taken four years ago. I don’t have FB right now, so can’t go find the source, but that was what was being discussed.
The source was someone who ran a horse newsgroup back in the day, so isn’t one to share idle gossip.

I’m not sure it really matters that much exactly when the video was taken. The actions are just as bad whether it was four years ago, two years ago, four weeks ago, or two weeks ago.
The only question is why the people sat on the video for so long, regardless of what the exact timeframe was.

Oh, I believe it was taken four years ago. The point I was trying to make is that I don’t believe similar things haven’t happened between then and the release of the video. Or before that time four years ago, to be frank.

Agree with others who said it doesn’t matter EXCEPT that in addition to her actions on the video, Charlotte has been accused numerous times of lying about it with no apparent facts behind the accusations. I’m hopefully not the only one who thinks that’s wrong.

Ok that is really interesting. I definitely want to read more about it. How can I find the source? And if it’s true, then lying about when the video was taken does not make the whistleblower look very good at all…

I actually believe Carl because I heard Charlotte say with my own ears she trains horses in total
privacy often, the only one allowed in the arena. Even Carl not in there.
Now we know why.

it never sat right with me, she said her horses were very hot and spooky and so it was so no one would witness her struggle and being run off with. But… makes you wonder.
having been to Carl’s yard before, I am struggling to see how that would be possible to be in “total privacy” the horses are readied just outside of the half wall to the indoor arena and the outdoor arena is just out that door. Any of the grooms, working students, etc would be able to see someone riding. Unless she is riding at 2 in the morning, or now has her own yard - I just don’t see how it’s possible to do that consistently.
