Hi Everyone..

Hi Everyone…

I am kind of bopping around trying to figure out just where I fit with my riding. I want to start showing Myst and Lilly and we are leaning towards the western side of things…

I recently took Myst and Lilly to a fun show on October 27th and we did a great job! I entered every single class (Except the jumping ones and a bareback one). Even the ones that asked for a canter, which Myst and I have never done…so we hung out in the middle while everyone went around.

This was Mysts first mounted show and his second show in hand and Lillys first show.

First I had sent Lilly out for 30 days of ground manners and training. I felt I didn’t have the patience for her stubborn Paso Fino mind set, so I sent her to a nice knowledgeable woman who did an AMAZING job. Lilly can now pick up all her hooves, she has respect on the ground and a lot of it and is so fantastic. Before she would just run right over you, swing her big booty around and push you around and would yank her foot away when you wanted to lift it. I got Lilly back the day before the show and my oldest Son decided he wanted to take her into the halter class.

Lilly and my son took second place in the halter class. Not bad for two complete and total newbies. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a104/OTheMessiahO/IMG_6937_edited_zps1169381e.jpg

Myst and I took first. Which was a wonderful surprise.

Lilly couldn’t stand still for nothing when it came to mounting during the show, so she only did the halter class.

Myst and I did well… We took 3rd place in the classes that only involved walk trot halt and reverse.

In the classes that involved Walk, trot canter we took 5th places…

(Myst wanted to go loping with everyone else in this picture)

I trained Myst myself and my friend (A trainer who mentored me) had her asst get on Myst for the first time in August. Myst has had 13-14 rides since then. Myst was the favorite of the day and everyone was so impressed with him… Especially when we entered the costume class in FULL Arabian Costume. (Myst is a Morgan)

Another trainer friend had commented that Myst was SO impressive and I had done a wonderful job with him, that she had seasoned show horses that would not have tolerated this costume.

We had a good time, well I think we did, the day was kind of a blur.

We still need a bit of work, Myst is a bit on the lazy side and it took a lot of leg and heel to get him moving. I don’t think we actually completed a full trip around the ring at a trot and boy it is bouncy.

We are looking at doing training shows this coming show season. No real shows yet, I need to save some money to get some show clothes. I’d like to go with earthy tones for me and black tack for him. Right now we are just riding in our Aussie saddle and the nicest polo and jeans I have.

Thanks for indulging me and taking a look.

Cool!

Nothing like having fun with your horses.

^ this! Everyone looks so chill, love it!

Thanks Guys. I am so tickled pink with Myst and I can not wait to get on Lilly and go for a ride too.

Myst is a very chill guy…unless a huge cow with the biggest horns I have seen start chasing us, then he gets a little 'Hi Ho Silver away" not that I can blame him. Nothing scares him. I had a backhoe over getting some dead trees down and Myst stood in front of the tree like “What are you doing?” and the guy gave him a light tap with the back hoe part and Myst was like “Cool…oh you want me to move… fine” and ambled off. Not much scares him. Not even stumps falling from the sky.

I love this. Keep up the good work and keep having fun!
