Has anybody ever fed or currently feed hi pro feeds? I found out that it was backed by kentucky equine research and that there is a dealer very close to me. I wanted to find a mare and foal feed to feed my mare and this is a whole new brand to look into.
At least in Canada they do not have the ingredients or the nsc on the bag. Email the company and request.
i did this. My impression of the formulas they market in Canada was high NSC, and not fixed formula, rather wheat and/or oats and/or corn and/or barley. I don’t know what the American operation does, might be totally different.
I’m not sure if the ingredients listed are good or not. I’m not super knowledgeable about ingredients in horse feed.
It is the natural 14 that i am looking into. The feed tag is on the website.
This is not a complete list of ingredients because it’s just bran and supplements. The text above says they use alfalfa for protein. That isn’t on the list. Also there is no NSC listed which is very important.
If you know nothing about horse feeds you need to self educate on the basics. Get Juliet Getty’s book Feed Your Horse Like a Horse.
And email hipro for a full list of Ingredients plus the NSC, which is the sugar starch carb level. That can range from 12 % to over 50% in a sweet feed. Generally people like to keep the NSC in feeds low these days.
