Hi tie on a stock trailer or sleep in trailer?

Has anyone installed a hi tie on a stock or stock combo style trailer with the slats on the side. I’m considering getting a Trails West Adventure trailer (the stock style with tack room, not the MX style with fold down windows) but want my next trailer to be able to install a hi tie. I currently have a euro trailer that cannot have a hi tie installed.

Alternately, who has camped with a stock trailer and just turned the horse loose in the trailer at night? I think this might work easily when traveling with one horse but has anyone had two horses in a two horse stock trailer overnight? I do not live in an area with a lot of trees for a high line. TIA!

A high tie or a portable corral would be the better option, especially if you plan on getting any sleep in your tack room.

I have had hi-ties on two of my stock combo trailers and had no issues installing them. They are one of the best inventions ever
I’ve put a horse overnight in the stock area of the trailer if the weather has been dangerous overnight in camp. I would never choose to do so though because it’s LOUD and they can’t really lay down in there safely

I had a hi-tie installed on my 2H stock combo trailer and I love it! I did take it in to my trailer guy to get it done because I didn’t want to end up accidentally drilling a hole through any of the wiring trying to DIY it.

If there was a serious storm or bad hail while I was out camping I’d consider putting a horse in the trailer overnight, but probably not for any other reason. My mare is small and quiet (and I sleep in a tent, so I don’t have to worry about the trailer jostling every time she moves around), but even so she’d make a hell of a lot of noise just shifting and turning around. She much prefers being out on the hi-tie where she can turn around freely, see the sights, lie down (and even roll!).

Years ago I spent the night in the dressing room and the 2 horses had the back of the trailer. The side and rear ramps were down, and all night long they went in and out, up and down the ramps lol. That was the 1st and last time lol.

Thank you, this is what I would consider doing, especially having the hi tie at the corners so my horses could see each other.
