HICKSTEAD

I vote for Hickstead for Horse of the Year…he is simply amazing and kudos to Eric…what a rider/horse combo, and Eric just LOFFS his horse…

Whew what a morning

His jumpoff was a-MAZ-ing!! Fast and tidy - you can bet I’ll be studying it!

I am really hoping that they will be at the Spruce Meadows Masters in a few weeks! I would love to see them go up close.

He is very charismatic in the flesh…watch his eyes roll as he approaches the fences…he really eyeballs them LOL

If there is a jumpoff in the Individual round, my money is definitely on him. That horse can FLY ! What a competitor !

That horse can GALLOP!

I fell in love a few years ago when Eric showed him in a local grand prix (as an 8 year old, I think), relatively small compared to where he is today…and I said to my friend with me that day, wow! That horse will one day be #1 in the world and will win Canada a gold medal…not kidding.

There is something about them that is spectacular and absolute magic and I am so glad they are finally getting the recognition they deserve. Seeing him on tv does not do him justice, seeing him live your jaw will drop and your heart will stop…ya can you tell i’m totally in love? lol!

I’ve been drooling over Hickstead and Russel (He’s such a big handsome guy even though I’m normally not a grey person).

I too am a huge fan. There is just something extra special about him! I would LOVE to see him in person! He’s a stunner.

I love this horse too. He has an amazing hind end over the jumps… front end too… but his hind end… wow…

Love this horse!!!

Anybody know his breeding?

I saw Hickstead, too, before he was who he is now. Even at that time his catlike qualities, quickness and general athleticism put him head and shoulders above his competitors. I couldn’t ride one side of him though - well done Eric, who loves that horse and gives all credit to his horse and Hickstead’s owners.

He is a Dutch stallion by Hamlet (x Ekstein). I haven’t heard of any offspring yet or if he’s actively breeding.
