I’ve used Bluesaddles.com for consignment before, but it seems they are no longer around. Who would you use in the North East that has a reasonable consignment fee and good turnover of saddles?
Not in the Northeast, but I consigned my Butet through HighEndUsedSaddles.com - Cori is excellent to work with. Commission was 25% I believe? My saddle was shipped out for a trial the day after it arrived in AZ. The trial resulted in a sale, and I had a check within a week.
Also not in the Northeast, but I had a great experience selling a County saddle through Maryland Tack Exchange. Their commission is a little lower, 20%.
Not in Northeast, but DFW Tack Exchange has an 18% commission rate (lowest in the market) or a 14% commission rate if you purchased a saddle through them. They currently have one of my saddles on consignment.
I Sell Tack is in the Northeast and has consigned for me with great success in the past. Rachel is excellent to deal with. Good luck!
Cori at High-End Used Saddles now charges 40% commission when I emailed her last month!
Yup, and 50% for “premium” brand saddles. I have no issue paying a commission for selling, but that’s a ridiculous amount. For 50% of the price I’ll just handle the headaches of selling myself.
Woah, seriously? That’s kind of crazy! Sad to hear, because she was great to work with about two years ago
I just read my email from Cori more closely, its 40% for high end, premium brands, not 50%. It is 50% for brands such as Crosby and Pessoa. I’m sure she does a great job, but I wasn’t willing to pay more than 25% commission.
Blue saddles just re-launched as Old Dominion Saddlery on Aug 1. I’m waiting to see their new marketing. Haven’t seen much lately. Not sure why there hasn’t been a bigger push to spread the word. Blue Saddles had a great reputation in the North East - I knew quite a few people that purchased from them.

A friend of mine sent her saddle to ISellTack and there was a non refundable ‘listing fee’. Not exactly sure the amount but I recall like $200 in addition to the pretty good sales commission. So with any of these companies…check the fine print. I considered Cori to sell a saddle until I saw her commission rates which I thought were highway robbery. It seems there are prices all over the map when it comes to sales commissions. Good luck.
Has anyone tried HighLine Tack and Apparel? They do consignments, but they are not in the Northeast.
Try Leah at Redwood Tack. She will buy your saddle from you - I think it would be way less than 40 or 50%. She does a great job!
Thank you! Yes I have used them many times to buy and sell saddles. I hope they do spread the word since I did not know this.
I have contacted Highline to inquire for more photos about their saddles and they were very quick to respond.
One of the other businesses mentioned on here never responded to multiple emails asking for more information and photos on a saddle…therefore I would never send a saddle on consignment to them despite the low consignment fee. I obviously would not want to risk losing a sale because the business never responded to a potential buyer.
Hi Everyone!
I wanted to jump on and let everyone know about Old Dominion Saddlery! I owned and ran Bluesaddles with a partner for 3 years and but effective August 1st, Bluesaddles has been dissolved, and I am the sole owner and operator of my new company - and pretty excited about it!.
We sell, buy and consign French saddles and Tad Coffins. Based on customer feedback I made a few changes to better serve our customers. We will now accept Paypal as well as credit cards, and offer free saddle shipping with a 7 day trial. Riders who need a little longer to decide, can have a 14 day trial and still get free shipping but pay a $65 restocking fee
Saddles keep past the 14 day mark, are considered final sales.
We charge 20% to sell your saddle and manage all aspects of the sale: photographing, marketing, sending on trial, and collecting payment. We offer return customers a discounted rate of 15%. Here’s my fine print on consignment:
If you would like to send your saddle on consignment, simple email or text clear photographs of both sides of the saddle, the stamp, and any areas of wear or stains. We can then give you an estimate of a retail sale price. We will market your saddle at the agreed upon price for 60 days. After that we will place your saddle on sale. Saddles not sold after 6 months will be returned to the consignee at our expense. If you wish to have your saddle returned prior to the 6 month date, simple send us a UPS shipping label and we will box it up and return it!
Old Dominion Saddlery will also buy your quality used French saddle or Tad Coffin from you for cash! Send pictures and we will make you an offer. Ship your saddle to us and we will send you a check!
Please check out my new site, www.olddominionsaddlery.com and look for ads in the Plaid Horse, and Elite Equestrian!
Thank you,
Dina Mazzola
Good to know about Blue Saddles becoming Old Dominion. When I was looking for a hard-to-find size in a used Voltaire, they didn’t have one but steered me someone who had the saddle I was looking for. I was impressed that they took the time to help me!
thank you for the ideas…still trying to figure ou t what to do with myHadfields bridle and this post offered some seemingly great resources
I just sold a saddle for a friend using Dina at Old Dominion and she was awesome. She charges a very reasonable 20%, no extra fees involved, and what I really liked is that she offers the option of selling the saddle directly to her (which my friend chose to do) or having her take it on consignment. It was a pleasure working with her and it couldn’t have been easier, I highly recommend her.
I used Hannah at Hunt Country Saddlery to sell my saddle. She has a great social media presence and several saddle fitters that help sell the consignment saddles. She charges 18% - shipping costs.
Susy at High Line Tack has sold two saddles for me. She is very easy to work with and I got my money very fast. She has a low commission rate of 18%.
