HIgh(er) Rise Breeches

I’m on the hunt for the elusive high-rise kneepatch breech. I’ve read several threads on here to get some ideas but seems like one person’s mid-rise is another’s low, is another’s high. Specifically, I’m trying to find something higher-rise than my benchmark mid-rise Tailored Sportsman Vintage breeches which feel a bit too low sometimes. I’ve ordered the Aisling Bianca with fingers crossed, but curious specifically about how the Romfh Sarafina, Struck Series 60 and any others fit that come to mind! ETA: I’m 5’10" with long hips, if that makes sense

Romfh Daniella is what you’re looking for - it’s a high rise knee patch derby breech. They’re a pretty new model for Romfh, I don’t know who actually stocks them so you may need to hunt around online. If you want a lower price point, Smartpak came out with a high rise (not mid rise) Piper this year and I’m 99% sure they have a tan knee patch version. I bought the white full seat version and it’s a decent option for the price.

Try the SmartPak Hadley breeches, they are definitely mid-rise.

I like the Dover Wellesley breech!

I just got a pair of the Smartpak Hadleys and I love them

The Dover Daltons are the highest rise I’ve found without spending to excess. They are $130 and have a silicone knee patch.

Update: just received my Aisling Bianca breeches and they deliver on high rise! They’re also nice and long- fully to the ankle. For those curious, I wear a 32L in Tailoreds and ordered a 44 (no long/short option) and they fit great. Haven’t ridden in them yet, but they’re also nice enough to wear out in non-horse life!

Dalton’s are on sale right now for $110! Full seat and knee patch. I’m tempted to try them out with the sale price.

I now have three pairs of the Dalton breeches (they had a BOGO deal last month) and absolutely love them. Not only do they fit at that mid-waist sweet spot, they are also a really nice technical fabric that is stretchy, quick dry, not hot, and washes well. I’m 5’8" with a long waist and they are the best-fitting breeches I’ve found.

I adore Aisling, and it’s a shame that there aren’t more companies delivering on fashionable clothing. Their shirts are absolutely work appropriate, and the rest of their line manages to be both bold and classic. And well made!

I also ordered a bow blouse for them- it’s gorgeous and will probably never even be worn on a horse

Was it that amazing red check blouse? It has no business being around horses will never get near the barn. I love it! If it’s their microfiber shirts, even my ivory shirts clean up nicely.

TEAM AISLING. I’ve yet to find a breech as beautifully made and true high-rise as the ones Aisling makes (14"). I have their Biancas mostly and a pair of Caitlyns. They’re a godsend and I’ll be heartbroken if they ever stop making them. (Their sizing needs to be more inclusive but that’s true for most brands.) Their customer service is incredible. I despise the velcro. Otherwise they’re perfection.

Noble Outfittersâ„¢ “The Original” Balance Riding Tight (KP and FS) have a 13.5" rise, are stupid comfortable, pretty cheap at $90, and come in 9 colors. The K/P version wears like a cozy legging you can easily run errands/hang out in. I like that the fabric isn’t at all sheer and has a nice weight to it. (There’s none of the “Are these too revealing/can you see my goodies?” second-guessing in different light and/or with tops that don’t cover your bum, etc.) Note: The F/S are grippy AF and the little sticky gel horseshoes aren’t subtle, but they’re effective.

FITS PerforMAX Front Zip Full Seat Breech just barely makes the cut, in terms of high-rise, and they’re expensive, but I do like them for a more technical breech. I wore them at a dressage show last weekend and felt confident and comfortable the entire time.

I couldn’t really stomach wearing the Ovation Celebrity Slim Secret breeches anymore after wearing my beloved Aisling breeches, but they had previously been my go-to and they do look great and really put-together on. Loved riding in them.

I might try the DS Daltons and a pair from PS of Sweden next. Curious about the Bella from Solid Citizen Equestrian once it drops, too!

These DID NOT make the cut for high-rise for me: ROMFH Isabella, ROMFH Champion, SmartPak Piper Riding Tights (but I’m trying their new high rise and will update early November), Riding Sport® by Dover Saddlery® Ladies’ Essential Breech, Irideon® Cadenceâ„¢, Ovation® Ladies’ EuroKNITâ„¢ Mélange X-Grip, ELT Ladies’ Hella High Waist Breech, the Horze/Equinavia brands, Buckwild (sadly, wanted to love), Dover Beverly, Dover Wellesley.

Do I! I was going to comment on this thread saying I had not even heard of some of these pants, I’m 5’2 and short waisted so if they fit a tall, long-torso’d individual like a high rise I fear they would overlap with the bottom of my sports bra.

The TS midrise pants are my favorite pants. They fit like a high rise on my when I get on and then hike my pants up and re-situate them. I also have some junk in the trunk and I buy them in a 30R. If I buy pants that are low rise, I go up a size and then they fit more like a mid-rise in the saddle. I don’t usually do that that though. The ROMFH serafina pants are SUPER nice though, I had a pair of those, they fit high rise on me. I have a fellow nugget friend who really likes the Dover breeches and I also really like the Horze brand. Avoid BVertigo, they run super long and low waisted in style they just do not work on my body type. RJ Classics midrise gulf breech is also great.

I have also quit buying smartpak branded breeches, pipers or hadleys. I find their quality control to be lacking and it feels like every pair fits differently depending on their color and then they stretch and get saggy in the butt.

Love these for a budget-friendly option: https://www.equinavia.com/horze-womens-grand-prix-knee-patch-breeches-leather-patches-p-36292/p

I don’t know if it has been mentioned already. but Horze also has some nice high-rise breeches. Also, following because I definitely prefer the high rise breeches too.

Based on this thread I ordered the Horze Angelina but ultimately returned them so here is my review. The material is almost tissue paper thin which even for summer weight I felt it was so thin I didn’t really have enough protection for my legs from like rubs etc. I didn’t like the fit at all - I have junk in the trunk and generous thighs and yet it was still baggy there but tight at the waist. With a higher rise, I like some kind of tummy-slimming type panel and this didn’t seem to have that at all. With the baggy butt, too tight waist and no gut-slimming, it really poofed me out in the lower belly. I loved the super dark navy and the seams on the front of the thigh so I wanted it to work but a size smaller would have been too tight at the waist, I thought. I had gotten them for $40.00 new with tags on Amazon so I was excited for a potential deal, but alas no. I’m 5’4" and length-wise they were fine.
