High Five WW

I know this older guy was caught up in the Ryan Hall fiasco. He’s now local and several acquaintance seem to be jumping on the bandwagon to breed to a nice approved WB. I cannot for the life of me find any foals within the last 4-5 years. What am I missing? I’d like to help, my BO in particular, decide if it’s a good fit but can’t seem to find anything on temperament or type he throws.

Ryan Hall fiasco?

Oh yes! A mess. Here is some info. Most info is on FB and I can’t get on there from my work computer

Ahhhhhh right. I was thinking of someone else. Thanks

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread - I’m looking at a few horses that were bred during what I believe was the Ryan Hall fiasco.

The links below are no longer working. Can someone give me a brief synopsis? I am looking at the horses from a distance so I am really trying to make sure everything checks out. I’m really truly not trying to stir up a long dead hornet’s nest. Feel free to PM me so this thread goes back to deadsville

Oh boy. There were two stallions caught up in the mess. I’m not sure High Five ever produced any foals? He turned back up in a neglect situation last year I think, which is really sad. But hopefully is doing ok somewhere now.

Hogholm’s Cobra One was the other stallion caught up in the situation. Apparently he was very nice, and produced lovely offspring. A group of people came together to organize a soft landing and retirement for him, I think.

If the horses you are looking at are by Cobra One, they might be quite nice.

Exactly, that is my hope - but it all sounds a little crazy. And all of it may very well be true! But I thought it was worth doing my own investigation to see if it’s truly crazy or worth taking a risk

Maybe search for threads on him? I can’t remember the names of the people that came together to organize the soft landing for him, but there were some respected breeders amongst them, I think. He apparently was a really nice horse who just had terrible luck and landed in bad situations.

Here’s my Cobra One he’s packing a youth around 3’3" East coast

Lovely! That is exactly why I am thinking about taking a flyer on a horse with good breeding :upside_down_face: I would just feel better if I could get some “references” on the breeder since it sounds like they were caught up in whatever the fiasco was with one of Cobra One’s owners.

Just a FYI: Ryan Hall was leasing him and did not own him.

Thanks. I really don’t know anything about these horses or their situation. Initially I was looking at an unrelated sale horse, and was trying to track down the breeder to essentially corroborate what the seller was telling me about the horse’s breeding. The seller said the horse was unregistered due to a mess with a bad barn manager situation. A good bit of internet sleuthing lead me to connect it to the Ryan Hall fiasco. I still don’t know what the fiasco was but I think it sounds risky to buy a horse that is in any way tied to anything referred to as a fiasco…buying a horse is risky enough without an unknown “fiasco” attached to it

I don’t know. Ryan had the horse in Oklahoma for awhile and then Indiana. The barn she was at in Oklahoma involved some generally good people who just got caught up with a spiraling situation. If the horse came from there, I’d consider it. I think they crossed Cobra One on a few TB mares there who were probably decent mares.

I can’t weigh in on the Indiana situation though, except to say that there were a number of issues going on… I’d be more leery.

The stallion really was lovely. I think she was riding him some while he was also in the midst of this crazy situation, and from all reports I have heard, he was a very sweet level headed and tolerant stallion. It seems like he passes on good temperament in addition to quality as a performance type.

By Indiana…would you by chance mean Iowa?

Maybe it was Iowa? I can’t remember. But definitely one of the two -

If you have any details I would very much appreciate it. PM if you’d like.
