High line attached to trailer

In the past, when I have camped with my horses, I have attached a high-line to the trees. Quite a while ago, I saw an advertisement for an arm that attaches to your horse trailer, that acts in the same manner a high-line does. The horse can circle, lay down, graze, etc. Does anyone recall seeing an advertisement that resembles what I just described?

Hi Tie :)[/QUOTE]

Thank you.

I think there are 3 different companies making similar products. I know someone that has two Hi Ties mounted on the same side of her trailer. She clips a cable between the 2 arms and then clips a sliding tie to the cable and the horse’s halter to that tie. This lets her horse move around over a pretty large area and has a nice amount of flex to it. But it doubles the cost with two sets of Hi Ties.

Watching the videos of how to use them, they seem to be pretty flimsy.

I have the Easycare brand hi-tie. My horse loves it, he looks around, lies down even. I haven’t had it very long. The bracket it attached to a trailer support, and the pole part, while it may seem flimsy, is boat-mooring fiberglass, super strong. The attachment to tie the lead to the arm (a Velcro band) is what would give in an emergency. I tie with a standard leadrope, though they have an option they sell too. I wouldn’t tie a horse that dances around and doesn’t tie well, but at a recent endurance ride I’d say more than half the people had one of the hi-ties.

I have a Tie-Rite which is similiar to the Hi-Tie. Many camping friends hav ethe H-Tie system. They are both great and I love having a system that can be set up in moments. However, I usually set up an electric pen so my horse can graze and lay completely down as he likes to do.

Both are made out of aluminum and mine has been installed for about 3 years. I’ve used it at least 15 times without any problems.

I’ve never seen these! Awesome!

There is a series of pictures on this page that shows the horse high lined between 2 hi-ties. http://enduranceridestuff.com/blog/2009/05/high-lining-horses-hities/

I’ve used the HiTies for years. Great product

What a great idea, but ouch, a bit pricey at $310 for one!
I am going to check into having one made for me, which should be much, much less.

Hi
I have a HI-Tie arm on my trailer but thats it. I have never used it. Could someone post detailed pics of it.?How it is set up? rope leant.

Pull the pin, Rotate the unit out 90° replace the pin.

Once in position attatch your lead rope or the HiTies originally came with a Velcro bungie lead that provided some aditional stretch vs a straight lead rope.

I set the lead or bungie so the horse can barely get his nose to the ground directly under the end of the rod. Any hay or water I put out, I set right there , So he can barely stretch to reach it. This prevents the horse from getting a lead rope wrapped around a leg.

so do you put your lead rope tied directly to the Hi-tie? Or do you have to have the velcro thing? I don’t just the hi-tie arm.

I got two hi-ties on my new trailer, here is a picture with BIG caveat, you don’t tie a tacked up horse to one as I did here, I just hooked him up for a second to take a picture:

I’ve thought of putting a hi line between the two arms when I only have one horse, haven’t rigged one yet though. What I’m working on is something similar to what a friend has done, rig up a 1/2" yachting rope with weights so that the slack goes through the hi tie arm loop as the horse raises and lowers head (actually I’ll probably put a swivel on to feed the rope through so it doesn’t get tangled). But so far just a fixed tie as he would have on a regular high line works great, too.
