Regarding rescues (and applies to most puppies too)…if you are not willing to put the time and energy into appropriately socializing and training a new dog, please don’t adopt/buy one.
We’re good with fearful dogs. My last adoption, a collie, was afraid of the world when we first brought her home in June. She wouldn’t go through doors, was afraid of loud sounds, wouldn’t leave the living room, was afraid of anything in your hand or anything new in the room. She is now a different dog (still not thrilled with the barn cat, but we’re working on it). Her foster, although a nice person and great with dogs, was unable to work on her fear issues.
So, know your strengths and weaknesses before making a commitment to a dog. It should be a commitment for their lifetime.
Done preaching. Off my soapbox.
Added some pictures and an update.
