Hilason UV Protect Mesh Fly Sheets - Any Experience?

Does anyone have any reviews/experience with the Hilason UV Protect Mesh Fly Sheets? Are these junk?

I’m not looking for anything that needs to withstand a lot of abuse. Just need something that has good airflow/is not too hot and provides good coverage.

Based purely on the price, I’d not expect it to last a week.

Here’s the link if anyone else has to go searching for this brand

Mine did not even last one week. More like 72 hours. Granted, my little mare was in an outdoor paddock with a run-in shed, so she wasn’t in a barn stall. But still. :grimacing:

I bought 2 of the tuffrider comfy mesh sheets last year. I think the are like $30 each. They aren’t super durable but if you are looking for cheap they aren’t bad. Mine lasted a season and are a bit snagged but still usable.

Just wanted to add that the fly sheets that are the most durable, in my limited experience, are the plaid Kensington ones. They seem to last several summers even on my outside horses. Only problem is they feel to me like they are the weight of heavy window screens. When it’s really hot and humid during our monsoon season, I either spray my horses down with the hose when they’re wearing them or just take them off because they’re sweating underneath. So: dilemma.

Bummer! I was really only interested because they offer a zebra print fly sheet with a neck and a belly band. My horse really struggles with the horse flies in our area in summer and the recent article I read about the effectiveness of Zebra print deterring fly landings had me looking for a full coverage zebra print fly sheet.

My horse is super easy on sheets and blankets, so hopefully it might hold up a little longer than 72 hours! :woman_shrugging:

Loveson makes a zebra print one with neck cover and belly band. I think I paid $70 ish for mine.

If you need an 81” send me a pm. I just bought one but it doesn’t fit my shark fin withers boy well enough for my taste.

I like the Kensingtons too. The fit is the best I’ve found so far for both of my horses (odd since they are very different shapes). Very durable. I like the removable surcingles. In fact I like the fit of my fly sheet so well I think I will try some of their winter blankets next season.

All fly sheets are too hot at noon on an August day here. So I use fly sheets when I can and go broke on fly spray when I can’t. :woman_shrugging:t2:

I was too quick on hitting the Buy Now button on ebay, so I now have a Hilason Zebra fly sheet heading my way… Soooo if it falls apart after 72 hours, I might be looking at other options!

Coming back to update. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the sheet, for the price point. Horse is easy on his things, so we will see how this holds up over time.

The only consideration, were I to order again, is that the fit is really small. My horse is a standard 78" across all brands, and this fly sheet is a bit snug. The neck is also laughably short. But for a fly sheet, not a dealbreaker.
