Hill's Canned Dog Food Recall due to Excessive Vitamin D

Received a call and an email from our local veterinary clinic yesterday regarding this, and another email today with an update forwarded to me from the clinic my sister uses.

The problem is excess Vitamin D in the food. If you feed Hill’s canned food, you might want to check with your veterinarian and/or go to the Hill’s Pet Nutrition website to see the full list of affected food.

When we were called yesterday, the food we had was not on the original list, but it is today, so we’re returning it. I also purchase Hill’s at Petsmart and TSC, neither of which retailers has contacted me – only the vet clinic – so that’s one advantage of paying a bit more to buy food from the vet.

My parents feed this so I alerted them when I heard. They contacted their vet who said it was only the canned food being recalled. Legit or has the situation changed?

I feed the can, but I just looked through the list I was sent and see only canned food listed. I’ll add that to my title and initial post. Sorry for any confusion!

Our local farm store has a sign up about it where the dog food is. Not really helpful if you’ve already bought enough for awhile and don’t stroll by though. Luckily I only feed kibble.
