I am pretty sure that farm is not Hilltop- different city and street, photos do not match. But it is “Hilltop-esque!”
Yeah I’ve seen that farm from the road. It is similar to Hilltop. Used to know the story but have forgotten. I think it has been empty for a bit.
I’ve been in the indoor ring. The house has large windows on each level looking in.
Yeah I drive past it almost every day. I have never seen a horse on it although the bulk of what I can see from the road isn’t fenced so I wouldn’t see horses there anyway. It is immaculately cared for even though it is empty.
Maybe I’m remembering this incorrectly, but wasn’t that place originally built for the Hasslers when they separated from Hilltop?
Because I don’t think they were in their current Chesapeake City location for the first couple years…
Hilltop isn’t in Chesapeake City, it is in Colora which is probably 45 minutes or so from Chesapeake City

That wasn’t the story that I heard…I had heard it was built for a kid who then lost interest. Something like that–I don’t remember it exactly. The Hasslers could have leased it for a period of time, I don’t know.
It looks like a really pretty place.
I know Laurie, I’m from the area.
The Hasslers currently train out of Chesapeake City. But they left Hilltop before I moved to TN-- 2005 or 2006 I think. I’m pretty sure he was training out of the farm advertised for sale before they moved to Chesapeake City… because the Chesapeake City place was still a TB farm when I moved!
The boards on the ground in the indoor make me think paso finos.
Well, it’s bugging me now.
The property seems to be owned by one “Richard J Crouse” of Crouse Construction based out of Harford County, MD. It is known as Vignon Manor Farm:

Hassler Dressage had their address in 2007 (before they moved to the Chesapeake City farm) listed as a private residence in Rising Sun. My bad. I don’t know what I was thinking. I do recall going to see his stallions the year he moved out of Hilltop and we were joking that his new farm looked JUST like Hilltop…
I was at that farm recently! There are only two little old ancient ponies that live there now. It is GORGEOUS, but in a bit of disrepair - looked like it would take a considerable amount of work to get up and running again.
How can the house be over 6,000 sq ft and only have 2 bedrooms?!
Well, the first listing has it priced just under $4 million, but the second one for over $9m!! Kinda pricy for a two bedroom lol, even if the house is 6000sf.
The house is small - it’s built into the “back” of the cross part of the barn, in front of the indoor. It appears from the outside to be small farmhouse-sized. I don’t think there’s any way it’s 6,000 sq. ft.
They may be counting the office space/meeting area on the right “wing” facing the house as house space and not barn space.
I think the two bedroom half bath house is referring to the small cottage on the property, pic 20.
It is very similar but not exactly the same as Hilltop. The one that is currently advertised for sale has sat empty or mostly empty for a number of years and was never occupied by the Hasslers. There are several stories that float around about why it was built to mimic Hilltop but I honestly have no idea which one is correct. As far as I know the building company was not the same and there was a bit of legal dispute when the copy was built.
