Hi all, my horse had cellulitis in 1 hind leg. During the warmer months she may stock up more in that fetlock, but it does go down with work. I have PC Ventech boots with 4 velcro straps, but on hot days the boot may slip down as she works and the leg tightens up. Is there a hind boot that has either stretchy straps or stretch in the boot itself so they’ll stay up better? I don’t want to over-tighten the boots or worry that they’ve slipped down during our lesson. I’ll use these for jump lessons and XC, so no open fronts please. TIA!
Check out the equilibrium brand boots. I know the flatwork ones can be super stretchy and flexible, and it appears thay have some brushing and sport boots as well if you were looking for something with a little more strike protection.
Also may want to look into sweating that leg when you can. It does wonders for swelling and cellulitis!
Thanks gallen! Will definitely look closer at this brand’s options. I’ve known of their Stretch & Flex wraps, but do need a little more protection.
I’ve sweated my horse’s leg periodically over the years, either in overnight wraps or with stretchy Saratoga wraps while working. Doing so reduces swelling, but it’s rather short-lived, reverting back to our “normal” within hours. Vet doesn’t recommend wrapping 24/7 due to factors of moisture, mud, pasture dew, etc. Sigh…
