History at Chantilly today.

Surprised there is no mention of it already on this forum, but Aidan O’Brien trained the first three runners home in the Arc today. Incredible achievement.

BC Turf winner, Found, became the 6th filly to win the race in the last 10 years.

And Galileo was the sire of the top three. O’Brien and Galileo foals are like peanut butter and jelly.

Now just wondering if Found will come back for a repeat try at the Turf Classic.

I caught a few of the other races at Chantilly. TVG also had some “promotional” clip (I don’t think it was theirs) about the lovely racing and training facility that Chantilly is… the 1/2 mi straight line gallop, sand and turf gallops… lovely scenery

I’m hoping this isn’t the case but I wouldn’t be surprised if Found is retired after her win yesterday. They’re aiming Highland Reel at the BC Turf and it will be a lot easier for him to get that win and up his stud value if she isn’t in the race.

Yes, I think it’s more likely that Highland Reel will come than Found. He could use the win on his resume more than she. He’s already shown he’s fairly suited to American Turf racing with a win in the Secretariat Stakes at Arlington last year.
That horse gets around btw, he has raced in 7 countries on 4 different continents in the last two seasons. Ireland, USA, England, France, Australia, Dubai and Hong Kong (twice).

My God, that is heaven on earth for race horses (and the people that work with them).

Btw the “straight line” gallop, called Les Lions, is actually 4km, which is over 2.5 miles… straight line, through the woods.
You can see a google earth view of it here… https://www.google.com/maps/@49.1730838,2.4683254,5741m/data=!3m1!1e3?hl=en

Cr*p, I did the km to mi conversion wrong (and I should know that from bicycle racing… where is that blush).

Thanks for digging up the video. The entire Chantilly facility is gorgeous.

Looking at the map - is that whole area that is crisscrossed with ‘lines’ all the different galloping tracks?

I was at the Secretariat the year Highland Reel won. I’d been a fan of his since his debut but putting up with what he had to to win that race in what was basically a hurricane and doing it the way he did it was impressive. The rest of the horses looked miserable and he had his ears pricked like he 100 percent enjoyed it. Even though he’s irish and should be used to the rain, this was a totally different level. He’s basically the new St. Nicholas Abbey for Coolmore with all the traveling and success he’s having. Just needs to run better in Dubai.

Not sure if the link will work, but here’s a picture of him winning the Secretariat in the rain. He handled it a lot better than my camera did.

Just hoping we see a nice continent from Europe for at least the BC turf races. We have some nice horses but so do they. I like seeing crossing the pond in both directions

Yes, I feel that Europe has crossed the pond a bit more frequently than we have but like seeing that particularly this summer, we’ve had a bit of success in some of their top races…

I was bummed that Lady Aurelia is out of the Breeders’ Cup for a day or two until I realized that with her out, Europe will probably send more for the Juvie Fillies Turf. I think that’s the first time my European friends have ever actually been really scared to race against an American.

Well, it starts with having 3 horses of that caliper in your barn, that alone is astronomical…
