History question-Fort Oglethorpe, GA

I am trying to narrow down a date on an image. Does anyone know when Hans E. Kloepfer was Master at the hunt at Fort Oglethorpe, GA? I know he was in Harrisburg, PA in 1935 and had been restationed to Fort Oglethorpe by 1940.

The F.O. hunt was established on 1907 by the 11th Cavalry.

Additional question is-Does anyone know when the hunt dissolved?

Over the last three weeks I have tried Googling, and emailing/calling the 6th Cavalry Museum at F.O. (they don’t know), sending an email to the National Sporting Library (have not heard back yet).

I need the info ASAP to complete a project by Friday, 5/9

Anyone out have any knowledge of this hunt?

I would suggest you pose your question to the Museum of Hounds and Hunting North America, http://www.mhhna.org/ and it looks like they have a Facebook page too.

Ask Ben Hardaway of Midland Foxhounds in GA? He probably knew him.

I believe that all the cavalry and light artillery required their officers to hunt, and hunts were sponsored by the posts. Even reserve officers were expected to hunt when they were home.

It’s likely that when the cavalry went horseless, most of the hunts disbanded, although several did not. One would guess that either during or right after WWII–i.e 1940s or very early 50s. I think I know that Fort Leavenworth was hunting during WWII.
