History

I’m trying to find some more information on a TB named Primed N Willing. Does anyone know anything about her, or know where I can dig some information on her? I’d really like to find a picture of her if possible.

Start with equibase.

This is her breeder. They might be able to put you in touch with her owner. Looks like she was in the money several times, so there should be a photo somewhere.

and her pedigree if you don’t have it.

I’ve found that and the PETA investigations she was a part of, her breeder was her owner for a long time and I couldn’t find any pictures of her from her racing days. I have her now, she’s been emaciated and she’s in terrible shape, but improving. I have held off contacting her breeders due to the investigations, I don’t really want them to know where she is.

Yea, did not post that, wasn’t sure if you new. The PETA investigation targeted Steve Asmussen, Her breeder is his father Keith.

As long as you legally own the horse, there should be no problem contacting her breeder for her history.

Her records say she was owned by Jonathan Lawrence King so maybe they can put you in touch with him, he may have some pics.

Not sure if this is still current

One last thought, maybe ask about her on

Glad she got a good home.

To bring a little clarity and truth to this. One of Asmussen’s many racing barns was “targeted” by a PETA undercover young girl. Who woo’d his top assistant to gain his confidence. She took many hours of undercover video of which PITA took 15 minutes of “sound bites” and edited in such a way to further their cause. The way it was edited of course it looked to be damning but more more so for the assistant than for Steve. There was little to no video of him.

There was an industry investigation and Steve was cleared of any and all wrong doing that PETA accused him and his operation of doing.

The tragic fall out of this besides dragging Steve’s good name through the mud was the death by suicide of another young assistant of his. Who was caught speaking out of turn. Not about nefarious things just professionally out of turn.

He was a highly though of young man in his mid 20s. Dedicated to his job and the horses. The embarrassment and the loss of his career I guess was too much.

Asmussen has a very large operation, horses stabled in a number of different states. This horse may of been in the “video” barn but I doubt it. Especially because she was only in the east for 1 start and then went to Texas.

Sorry to sidetrack but I things should be fair and balanced.

I am not defending nor a detractor of the Asmussens. Just supplying a bit more to the “story”

The filly/mare was claimed from her owner/breeder out of her 5th start. Ran 6 more times for her new connections but never won. Made her last start in Jan of 2015 for the same connections that claimed h

OP, this is a link to her breeders and one time racing owner’s website. They won a race with her so good chance they have that win photo and perhaps other pictures. Good chance they may know the people who claimed her.

I have met them several times in years past. Nice enough people I would be surprised if you didn’t get a response to an email.

Good luck.

Thank you guys for all the links! I don’t know if the PETA thing is still going and I really just didn’t want to get my name tied up in it. I do legally own her, but she was surrendered to me and the guy who had her wasn’t the cause of her being in such poor condition. I just don’t want to involve names for everyone’s sake. I’ll keep trying, only reason I’m looking is for a little history on her. And I want a picture to see how she looks fully fleshed… but that’s more for my own benefit really…

As gumtree said above Steve Asmussen has been cleared of all wrong doing.

I did not link to any of the PETA info because IMO what they (PETA) did, and how they tried to spin it, was very improper.

Take anything PETA says with a huge grain of salt. Do not make any decisions, (or judge any person) based solely on info provided by them.

I linked to the Asmussen web page in my 1st response because I too think you will find the info you are seeking, or a lead to it, there.

If you are worried about anonymity, you can make up an anonymous e-mail.

If you are looking for an idea of what other talents she may have inherited, post a link to her pedigree on either, or both, Eventing and Sport Horse Breeding forums. Lots of knowledgeable folk in both forums.

The Horse Care forum has many feeding gurus who can help with a diet designed for healthy weight gain.

Would love to see pics when you are happy with her condition.

She’s gaining great weight on the feed I use, about 2 pounds per day. She’s on pasture and gets alfalfa as well. She’s coming back from a condition scoring of 1, so it’s going to take a while before I’m able to post a picture that shows all of what she can be.

I’m not judging anyone or anything based on the PETA investigation, I don’t find them to be a reliable organization. I checked the Asmussen website and they didn’t have any pictures of her available. I may contact them if I get too impatient lol. I finally figured out what color she is (she’s mostly bald right now due to rain rot and any hair she does have is horribly sun bleached). Her new hair growth is shiny and so dark that she will probably be nearly black once her coat grows in.

Not only was he cleared of any wrong doing, but he was just inducted into the Hall of Fame at Saratoga.
