Yes they were ordered to cease and desist for this week. After today the show for the rest of the week is cancelled. The order only runs through the end of this week so far as New York moves into a new phase on the 6th. So right now it is up in the air as to if any of the other shows will run. Heard this directly from multiple people there.
I’m curious why HITS is being ordered to stop, but Saratoga isn’t. Saratoga has run the last 2 weeks.

I think Saratoga is in a different county? Not sure!
That could make sense. Saratoga is much farther north. That county could be much farther along in reopening.

Saratoga is in phase 4 of reopening, but the first show there happened when it was still in phase 3. Saugerties is in phase 3 now. The venues are about 75 miles apart.
What a cluster.

Wouldn’t it also depend on what precautions are being taken by the show to keep everyone safe and whether or not the competitors have been compliant in following them?

I believe Saratoga went to a lot of effort to comply with local officials. Every person who comes on the property gets a temperature check at the entrance. If they have a temperature above the specified point, they don’t come on the property.
They also have signs posted everywhere about wearing a mask, maintaining social distance, etc., etc.

A somewhat stupid question, but how can the quarantine be enforced?
Pretty sure none of those states have riders in NY. MA, CT, NJ, VT, NH sure, but Nevada is a stretch lol

I would think it likely that quite a number of those States have competitors in NY.

I think it is one of those “if you get caught not quarantining you will be fined”, so to get caught you would likely have to either piss someone off so they report you, OR become ill and be found to have not followed quarantine procedures. Americans have been fined for coming to Canada and not quarantining because they were bragging about it…and they were fined.

I wonder what they will do about HITS Culpeper for these next two weeks. The show seems to be running fine right now, everyone not mounted seems to be wearing masks, and I think most are trying to follow protocols. No temperature check though…

a few interesting points: The self-quarantine is voluntary, but compliance is expected. Travelers and residents returning from impacted states typically will not need to check-in with public health officials… Individuals who are traveling to New Jersey from impacted states for business are exempted from the application of the travel advisory.
Are the trainers traveling for business? the shippers? the equipment deliveries?
It would have been nice had they decided this sooner.

Really? with the possible exception of the Carolinas, I cant imagine people travelling that far to show in New York.
