Hives developing Craters

Hello. My horse has allergies and sometimes gets hives. The hive started about 1 week ago a nickel sized bumps. However, this time they have developed craters as seen in the pictures. The outer rim has an firm squishy feel. I am consulting with my vet but didn’t know if anyone has any information. This is the first time the craters have happened.

I had a horse get hives and developed the craters. So weird looking.

Yup, seen that. Per vet, treated as regular hives. Crazy looking though.
