Have the option to buy a foal out of Coretta (Calido I / Lord) stamm 104a. I would like to know more about this motherline. I have found Acolord and Corland are descendents. Anything I am missing?
Dakota VDL is from stamm 104a
It has been one of the top stamms over the last few years.
Strong production line for sport and breeding.
Very nice motherline! Proven in producing 1.60 horses, states premium mares and approved stallions.
Her dam, Doretta II, is dam of the approved stallion Acolord (as you know) as well as 1.60 jumpers, a 1.40 jumper and some states premium mares, one being the fabulous Waretta by Acodetto. One of Doretta IIs daughters, Paoletta, has produced the Verband approved stallion Cantolino by Canto, as well as a 1.40 horse by Casall. Great granddam Odetta has produced the approved stallions Landetto and Corretto.
Corland comes from another Odetta daughter, Thyra (Landgraf ) She is also dam of approved stallion Clapton VDL by Caretino and numerous 1.60 jumpers and states premium mares. Lots more info on this family but just thought I’d toss at ya.
Super opportunity for you!
104a is one of the best stamms of Holstein. It has been proliferated heavily by Prof. Hartwig Schmidt who responsible for breeding most of those horses that were just mentioned. One who was not who was just retired last year was one of top ranked WBFSH jumpers in the world, Corradina - Corrado/Sandro/FierdeLui Z/Landgraf. The Landgraf mare is half sister to Doretta II, the Lord mare. Great stamm, great branch. The only question is if Coretta is as prolific as the rest of the stamm. We certainly do not need to question Calido or Coretta’s statespramie dam Doretta II. Who is the sire of the foal, and will you be able to see it before you purchase it?

Are you buying it directly from Prof. Schmidt or from someone else ? If you are buying it from Prof. Schmidt , I can call him and ask him of the quality.
sorry…didn’t mean to quote Tim here. Haven’t had enough coffee yet …lol
Thank you to everyone who has posted. My main concern is the motherline. I want to make sure what I import is very good for breeding. What about the production of the mother Coretta? I saw she has produced other foals, but I want to make sure they are of top quality. The family and close relatives sound fantastic. The foal is not owned by Prof Schmidt.

The motherline is fantastic! Coretta is born in 2005, so you can’t expect that much from her offspring. The two offspring I have found are way too young.
The two sires from those offspring are from very good quality!
Good choice, Coretta is mine!
