LOL, the neck and chest and upheadedness on that mare could easily be an ASB. You’re so intent on winning you aren’t thinking, and that’s ok. Everyone’s got their own purpose in life.
Ok, now you lost me… how so?
How are TWH more like a halter QH than a ASB?
Read again, that’s not what I said.
And @Djones, with your unhelpful picture of a young completely-other-breed horse with it’s head in the air, I could say the same about you.
That is incorrect.
Eh, it kinda is.
So you’re saying (1) and (2) are not at all alike.
And (2) and (3) are not at all alike.
Therefore 2 and 3 must be more alike.
Otherwise it’s all nonsense adding nothing to the actual topic
I don’t know much about ASBs and TWHs and even I know they are more alike than either is to a halter qh.
That is not at all what I’m saying. They can all be “not alike”.
Well I mean sure.
But it’s a spectrum.
The TWH and ASB are at one end of it, closer to one another than either is to a halter qh.
.
yeah they aren’t bred for presence, upright carriage, mobility in the shoulders and rear end, and racking and cantering extravagantly.
Not at all.
no There’s always some sob story for why she hasn’t done it yet. Beyond frustrating. But she’s still out there, selling horses.
Thank you.
You’re welcome. It is evident you adore this mare, and I’m glad she’s got you in her corner.
This thread has gotten completely out of hand, and I’m not going to go through and comment to everyone or on everything.
I appreciate the legitimate help/wisdom/etc from people that I’ve gotten. There are some people who have followed this thread from the very beginning, and offered their $0.02 whenever, whether I liked it or not. I think most of these people know who they are, but to call out a few @findeight @chestnutmarebeware @ASB_Stars @ASBJumper @endlessclimb @Alterration, to name a few.
What I get frustrated about isn’t people disagreeing with me. It’s when people come out of the woodwork, don’t read the entire thread, call themselves “experts” and then don’t offer any advice other than telling me that what I’m doing is wrong.
So I’ll say this, then probably stop posting to this thread:
I ordered a feed bag and a weight tape. Great suggestions.
Her feed gets weighed by me. I pre-portion it out.
I’ve contacted my vet already about getting the hoof x-rays and doing a fecal test. I may see if there are any blood tests we should run for her as well, when the vet comes out, but as of right now I’d need her opinion on where to even start with that. I’m waiting to find out when we can schedule that.
The word cruel has been redacted. I really don’t want to see anymore going after one another due to that word. Moving on.
All I’ve ever wanted of this thread was to have a group of people I can ask questions to/get advice from/feel supported by/ and get ideas from. And I hoped that even through my mistakes, my stubbornness, etc, that at least there would be no question that I’ll do whatever I can to help Honey and make her happy and loved. That coming into question today is what upset me.
And with all that’s going on in my life, I think now is a natural point for me no longer messaging on this thread.
Thanks, all.
Don’t forget botulism vax if her field board situation uses round bales in winter, which seems likely.
Also ask about other vac recommended for living out, in a herd situation.
Blood work is always helpful.
It’s information and information is power.
At the very least it’s a baseline.
Good points. Thank you.
Welcome to the internet.
You are doing fine. She needs more weight but is gaining. Keep what you are doing, follow vets advice as they have eyes on the ground.
Gaining weight for horses takes time especially if they have been thin a while.
And we do love the progress pictures.
Well, that’s disconcerting. That lady sounds less than reliable, on all fronts.
My only suggestion-- since a fecal count and a weight tape have already been mentioned-- is to ask your vet about doing bloodwork to check Honey’s kidney and liver function.
Awwww… for realz?
I come to this thread every day eagerly hoping for more happy updates on Honey. I am invested.
Please don’t take that away from me/us (cuz i know i’m not alone)…
Filter out the BS and just focus on your core group of fans/helpers.
@AdultEmmy. I will be very sad if you stop posting about Honey. But I understand; it’s easy to tell people to just ignore something, but ignoring is very hard to do
If you stop posting, please update us in the spring
Sorry your life sucks right now, glad you’ve got Honey to help
Horses are such a journey. We all learn as we go.
OP, I think it’s plain as day that you care about Honey very much, and you’re doing your best.
That said, please don’t stop posting. I hope you realize you really do have a lot of people in your corner here. Take time if you need it. I know you’re here for support and to share pictures of your wonderful mare, and I can imagine it must really really suck when things take a turn and you log in to see a pile 'o negativity on this thread. Especially when I am sure you have enough negativity in your life right now.
Hang in there, and please come back to share more pictures of miss Honey when you’re ready to do so. I’m sure I’m not the only one that would love to see her happy expression again!
