Wow, he’s flashy looking and jumps so nice! His yearling sale price was $300k, yikes. I wonder what they paid for him. Have we seen Deputy Minister in other sport horses?
Yes. Like allllll the sport horses.
Honor Code stamps so hard. Those big blazes and tons of chrome! They all seem to move like hunters, too.
they are beautiful horses. Still kicking myself for not picking up the one in the sale last year.
Yes. He is ubiquitous in off track sport horses. But, he also is showing up reliably in UL eventing. His grandson Posse (Silver Deputy) was all over NY for a long time. Silver Deputy had several UL OTTBs.
For a race bred horse, his presence (as well as Posse’s) in pedigrees of OTTBs at UL is not statistically insignificant. Several OTTBs at that level are even linebred to him.

I have 2 Honor Code geldings. Huge fan of Honor Code. 1 of them has the Chrome, but the other one doesn’t.
Fun fact: in the 2024 TB Makeover, Honor Code was tied for having the most offspring at the Makeover. So out of the 6 horse by Honor Code, 5 of them were in the top 10. And out of those 5, 3 were in the top 5! I know Show Hunter, Competitive Trail, Ranch Work….
It’s unfortunate, for sport horse people anyway, that Honor Code went to Japan two years ago. He stood the 2024 season for a private fee.
Another sire that is classic show hunter but was in Japan is Creator. He is an beautiful mover under saddle. Daisy cutter trot. Shame there will be no offspring here for the sport horse people. He has since gone to Saudi Arabia
There are many TB stallions that are good movers, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that movement will translate to jumping ability in their get. Deputy Minister shows up in many a sport horse pedigree and AP Indy has a few with a jump.
Honor Code (AP Indy) x One of a Cat (Deputy Minister) seems to have been a good match for a stylish hunter ring jump in this case.
Honor AP is still standing in KY.
