Yes, seems reasonable. This means “climate change” regarding changes in the horse’s location, not “global warming” climate change. Feet contract and expand based on temperature, moisture, etc., which can create space around nails/nail holes — easy for bacteria or sand or any number of things to penetrate the hoof wall.

Thanks, temperature sounds good. I suppose that, combined with the lack of circulation during transport, could create a problem.
