I am looking at 3 different boots for possible use for fox hunting. Renegades, Marquis and Easycare gloves.
Does anybody have any experience/opinions to share on how these boots do in the hunt field (including jumping)?
Thanks in advance!

I do trail riding and jumping with my gelding and have been using the Cavallo Sport boots and I love them!! I have tried the Renegades in the past and had nothing but trouble getting them to fit correctly and I got really tired of them always falling off my horse. The Cavallo boots are easier to put on, stay on through anything and have been the best fit for my horses!
Any thoughts for low heeled tb type hooves? Irish hooves?
I have hunted in the Easyboot Epics with moderate success. Not bad if you don’t mind getting off to retrieve a thrown boot every third hunt. (I did mind, so we don’t use them anymore :))
I know a friend who tried the Marquis hunting and she couldn’t keep them on either.
I can’t speak for the Renegades because they don’t make them large enough for my horse, so I haven’t had the opportunity to try them.
I do, however, LOVE my Cavallo Simple boots and know of one other Cother who hunts in them as well…(Bogie?)
They stay on, don’t rub, don’t spin, don’t come off and the horse is very comfortable in them. I don’t need them for every hunt, some of them have good footing and she can go bare, but others are tough and the Cavallos come in very handy.
Good luck!

Good to know. I just bought a pair of Cavallo Simples for Houdini, but haven’t had the chance to try them out yet. I love how easy they are to get on and off, though - just like a pair of sneakers.

Do make sure you allow for a bit of break in time for your new Cavallos. The leather needs to soften a bit before they’re ready to go hunting.
I rode in mine for 20-30 minutes of walk/trot hacking on 3 or 4 occasions before I took them on a hunter pace. After that, they were ready to go. Now they’re as soft and supple as a pair of running shoes.
Good advice, thanks.
Renegades…no wear on the feet, they go on and off very easily and best of all for hunting/dealing with mud and wet…they drain.
I used to rave about epics, but when the jumps got bigger, and the lines more technical, they took to coming off and spinning around on his hinds. terrified me. no more epics while jumping :no::no:
i’m going to learn how to apply eponas and be done with it.
Loved my Renegades.
Yup, that would be me. I hunted in Easyboot bares for awhile but did have problems with them coming off. The last two seasons I’ve hunted in Cavallo Simple boots with no problems!
I jump in them, too!

I thought it was you who hunted in Simples. You actually got me to try them…I read about your success with them, and decided to give them a go.
I’ve never looked back! What a great boot, and so unassuming! My hunting friends were like “Really Sarah, Cavallos?” But when they saw how well they performed, enough said!
I jump in mine as well, up to 3’3" so far. We hunt first field and jump just about anything in our path.
I’m with Wentworth, which hunt do you ride with?
I hunt with Old North Bridge. The simple boots surprised me by how little they affect how my horse goes. And I love having him barefoot the rest of the time
