I never thought I would buy a QH, or a track pony. And yet, here we are. He is perfect for me. So take heart, horse tribe! They are out there!

He is very handsome! And very sweet. My BO said today that all my horses have been sweet. She has known all three of my last horses, so I believe her. They all been easy to live with.

Glad you gave horses another try.
It takes kissing several princes, does it, but you have one now. :sunglasses:

Well, certainly the horse that put me in the hospital was not a good fit! Great for someone younger, but not me.

And I did kiss a few frogs between the time I was hospitalized and finding Max. He is my dream horse.

A+ for choosing one with such a cute face. Equally top marks for that very cute vest. Wishing you two all the fun in the world-- from a fellow convert to a QH from the warmblood life. There’s something to be said for a horse you truly trust and enjoy riding.

What a cutie!!

Awww… :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
Your guy looks like a sweetheart.

While my unicorn was bred to race, he never did.
asking forbearance from COTHers who have seen these brag pics before & often *
Failed his 2yo Speed Test, though he looked the part:

Then he spent 4yrs ponying for the trainer:
(This is him at the Arlington Million)

I bought him as a 6yo & he did it all for me.
First as a Hunter (Regional Reserve AA our 1st year showing).
Then Dressage (schooled to 3rd) & Eventing (schooled to Training). He did it all for me for 20yrs. Hope you have the same future :star_struck:

I can’t wait to hear about your journey together!!!

Ain’t nothing wrong with the right QH. The trainer out of my barn has a QH for sale whom I LOVE. Very well set neck, fabulous conformation for dressage, super balanced and natural self-carriage. He’s very much not dull and that gives him spark. Yet loves people and attention and is freakishly sweet on the ground. He put his muzzle on my shoulder today and nosed my cheek. He hung out with me while I watched other rides. I always hang out with him! I always call him “my horse” and if I had the money and time, I would certainly buy this guy. I never would have considered a QH but they are now on my radar.

A good QH can be a great horse in dressage. I know a person who showed through GP on her QH. The trainer has another QH he wants to show in Western Dressage in 2023. He’ll enter the sport at level 4, Western Dressage. That horse, who is something like 7-8 years old, carried his daughter through dressage lessons and can also work cows and the flag. Such an amazing horse.

GOOD FOR YOU! Those QH gems are out there. So glad you found one!

ETA I work with my WB on the flag who largely says “who cares? What’s the point?” Is very dull to the aids on the flag. I’ve worked him on cattle and he largely says " who cares if it runs away. What’s the point". His absolute crowning skill was his ability to calmly walk and follow by leg yielding to direct a cow, There, he was so much better than the QHs but QHs cream him all the time in responsiveness. I suggest doing a cattle or flag lesson to see how much “cow:” your horse has. It’s amazingly fun and can give you insight on how to train him for dressage.

Congratulations!!!
