Has anybody see this? It really look awful . Either picking apart horses that are fine or posting horrendous accidents on horses. Has anyone seen this?
I’m sorry, what?
You just started a thread complaining about people who have horses that you think are too big for them or too much to handle. And now you’re upset that someone on FB is picking apart some pictures?
Do you realize that your thread and this FB page are in the same family? They both fall under “mind your own business” and go out and enjoy your own horse.
What the private group you have to join?
Heard about it, don’t care to join, too many people in this world having issues
“People riding horses too big too much”
“People riding horses to small”
“People spending SOOO much on horses, tack care”
“People spending so little on horses, tack, care”
The more time I spend on the internet the more I rely on my trainer, vet, farrier, chiropractor, and the judges I ride in front of. You know the people who DO know me and my horse.
I try to avoid drama. Have heard of it, have no desire to join with a bunch of keyboard warriors with nothing better to do with their time than tear other people apart, with nothing constructive about it.
No my post was very generic I didn’t post a picture or a video of a person and make fun of them. I didn’t post a video where people and horses are killed and injured. I understand almost anything I post will be called out by select posters so no surprises you were the first.
As always though have a great day@
I just left the group…
Yeah it’s one thing if its constructive and educational but they are downright nasty from what I have heard!
It is and very upsetting sometimes.
:lol: First of all there is the title Horrible Horsemanship.
Then there is the disclaimer
(As apparently the name of the group isn’t enough of an indication) THIS IS NOT A POSITIVE GROUP. If you’re looking for somewhere to show your pretty little pony, this isn’t it. If you’re looking for a place that only gives overly-sweet opinions filtered more than a cold-brew coffee, this isn’t it. If you’re looking for constantly sweet, loving, caring people, this isn’t it. As the rules will imply (in the pinned post, if you decide to join, for whatever reason.), this is an equine group for the tough-skinned. If you want a place where admins boot people for being lightly salted, go to JRN or WWEC. We encourage saltiness here. We appreciate true, unfiltered opinion. Joining is up to you, but don’t complain to the admins about not being warned
And you are surprised by the content?
There are closed groups all over the place, which is just the same as having groups of people anywhere gossiping, it has always happened, always will, from the bleachers, to the barn, to the post show party. The only difference is that the groups on social media are larger.
I was surprised by the content. I’m a member of many closed saddlebred groups and NOBODY posts things like that ,but, now I know better.
Ok, i’m Curious, you read the title, presumably the warning as well. You joined the group, it wasn’t for you, but you spread the word on a message board, to what end?
Anyone who is on there already knows what it is like, maybe you are trying to get traffic for them?
Why post this?
I like an intelligent and informed critique of horsemanship, which is why I have a good coach.
I don’t need to be horrified by painful looking accidents or deliberate cruelty.
I am more than capable at this point of looking at medicre riding and seeing what’s going on, and I want to learn from people who have very good eyes.
I’ve learned aiot from a couple of blogs that are now dormant. I learn from some of the regular posters in COTH and some of the discussions particularly on health issues I haven’t yet faced.
But the FB group you mention just sounds juvenile and tiresome. I’m sure they are spotting bad riding, since there is a lot of that out there particularly in the breed disciplines.
So really, it’s a closed group, let them have their fun. I bet a certain number of participants really are having their eyes opened to things, and I’m sure everyone is enjoying being shocked and appalled!!! regularly. It’s probably doing more good than harm ( unless the post a video of you personally).
But it sounds tiresome.
A) irony, again.
B) I hate these jerk face threads.
I was curious if I was the only one that’s all. I have no objective other than that…no sinister plots etc.!!
Because that’s what self-absorbed 14 year olds do? :-/
Gottcha
LL, if you haven’t figured out by now the unwritten rules of the interwebz…I’m not sure what to tell you.
Anything you post on the internet is no longer your own, no longer private. It’s out there for whomever wants to comment on it in whatever way they see fit. If you (g) can’t handle that, totally fine, just don’t post. If you (g) think it’s wrong to pick apart content posted by others, don’t join those groups. It’s called personal responsibility. You can’t control anyone else, so this obsession with what other people do, whether it’s normal, oh-my-gosh how horrible are they?, is this or that a trend, is odd and I imagine exhausting.
You seem hyper-concerned about what others might think about you, about the Saddlebred world, about random posters of content on the internet…and yet you yourself posted a thread about your judgments regarding other people! The railbirding is quite hypocritical.
I’m sorry you feel that way but happy weekend!
Yes I’m in the group. I don’t really comment. But I have found it very instructional.
It can be hard to imagine The entire scope of possible actions and outcomes when dealing with horses.
I recall in particular one video of a horse drowning. Awful yes. But honestly how it happened was a scenario that simply never occurred to me. You never know what horses are going to do or people are going to do. I do find it useful to broaden my understanding of what’s possible both of horse behavior and human behavior.
I see people attempting some stuff with horses that is just so off the wall I can’t imagine what they’re thinking. I also see people very unaware of their own skill level.
On the horse side of it I see horses offer responses to things that I just haven’t seen before.
If you want to look at it as possibly broadening your understanding of actions, causes and effects, I think it can be useful.
Yes.
Also, presumably they are linking to things people have already posted to the Internet of their own free will.
I just don’t want to be upset by seeing horses getting hurt or horrible cruel training. But absolutely there is an educational value in understanding the extremes.
And once you no longer enjoy it, you can always leave the group.
