Horse blanket sizing

Hi! Can someone tell me (if it’s possible to tell from pictures) if this looks like it fits okay? It’s a size 84 which she usually wears but I think this runs slightly larger than what we usually get and I’m not sure if I should try a size down (81) or if that would be too small? strong text

I’d watch for shoulder and top of the tail rubbing. It looks too long but narrow/restrictive in the shoulder/neck opening area.

It’s really hard to tell from pics, but weatherbeeta is not made for big shoulders or higher neck set horses. At least they don’t fit my horses shaped like that.

I agree its too long for starters. I also wouldn’t love the neck fit…

It looks both too long and too high and tight around the neck.

Too long and again, don’t love the tight fit around the shoulders.

Horsewear (Rambo, Amigo Bravo’s etc) have the comfiest fit for my big beasts. I’ve always been taught that you want the tail seam (attaching the tail flap) to hit the top of the tail.

People tend to forget that the tail is a continuation of the spine. A rug mustn’t interfere with the free movement of the tail because it can seriously mess up the horse’s back. So the tail seam should hit the top of the tail. The tail flap should be free moving.

Similarly, the neck and shoulder of the horse must be able to move without constraint - a tight rug can seriously mess up both. Just think of wearing too tight shoes…

Your rug has a lot of options to loosen the shoulder. Try adjusting it until the shoulder dart lies totally flat.

However, to answer your initial question, no, the rug doesn’t fit your horse.

It looks a bit big to me. I’d size down. Cute color!

I’ll be a voice of dissent and say I’d try using the 2nd snaps to snug up the front before giving up on it.

While it’s big, I think with the front tighter you’ll be fine.

The front already appears to be as snug as possible.

No, you can attach the snaps to the 2nd rings.
