Horse board in Vancouver

Does anyone have any experience with horse board in Vancouver? What is board like in southlands or delta? I see prices in delta are pretty cheap (under 1000) is southlands a lot more? Is there turnout in southlands? What is a reasonable commute time to delta from Yaletown area? Is there any areas I’m forgetting?

I can’t comment, but I got all excited because there’s a Vancouver in the US too…but, alas, you mean BC’s Vancouver!

Yup, and ours is even the OG Vancouver!

Yes for clarification asking about the city in BC not the Portland suburb

From Yaletown, Southlands is definitely closest. Board ranges depending on the barn, the self board places being cheaper obviously. A few of the barns do offer some seasonal turnout options. Your best bet would be to contact the club and they could probably direct you to some barns. There are a lot of different options there, so worth looking into. The environment there is unique with the club setup, and not necessarily suited to every horse so that’s something to keep in mind.

Next closest would be Richmond or North Vancouver, with North Van having limited turnout due to geography but access to nice trails. North Van you are looking at 25-45min on average depending on traffic, more obviously if there’s a major issue with the bridge. Richmond, 30-60min depending on traffic. There is also Burnaby Horseman’s in Burnaby.

There are a few barns in Ladner right on the other side of the tunnel that would be a bit closer of a commute than going all the way to Delta. Delta is easily 45min-1h on a weekend with no traffic and with traffic or any kind of issue with the tunnel, all bets are off.

I’m a local to the Langley area, but just recently attended a show at Southlands… it’s an absolutely gorgeous facility!

They have a list of boarding barns on their website which may be of assistance:
