Horse boarding/training around Lexington KY

I know there are old threads about this but it seems like a lot of those trainers and barns aren’t currently in use.

I am looking for a barn with a trainer who regularly shows in the area and in other states. Board needs to be under 700 and the trainer needs to be experienced.My horse will be doing BN this spring then moving up to Novice later in the summer. I am looking for a fun and competitive environment. I love to learn and will be moving down to Lexington in the summer before I start college in the fall at UK.

Any help would be appreciated!

I dunno…under 700 might be pushing it for full care and, probably an indoor, close to town in a name trainers barn. How far can you drive?

Within 40 mins. I am negotiable on price if the facility is worth it.

Megan Moore at Team CEO and Jenn O’Neill at Antebellum are both about 10 mins from KHP. Don’t know about rates. Neither have indoors. Wonderful ladies, though.

Lindsey Oaks is located about 20 minutes from campus at Rock Ridge Farm. Unsure of boarding rates, but great facility with large all weather ring, tons of space to hack and condition, and a cross country course.

Lindsey has competed up to CCI*** and is aimed at competing at Rolex in a few weeks. Private message me if you would like her phone number!

Carriage Station Farm/Cathy Weischhoff

Her place is fabulous and she’s not only a terrific trainer, she’s a wonderful horseman.

I have one boarded and one in training right now. I think the boarded one is close to what you want to pay.

I wish I was closer, but she’s the only one around I felt good about sending my horses to, knowing I wouldn’t see them or check on them for three months. (shoulder surgery on both shoulders meant no horse work over the winter.) There is not an indoor, but there is an ENORMOUS covered arena. She goes out of state all year long and has a super fun, super conpetitive group. If I had the liberty of boarding with her year round (I’m a bit over an hour away) I’d be there in a heartbeat. Doesn’t matter when you show up, place and horses are always in top shape.

You’re gonna get a lot of replies - tons of absolutely WONDERFUL coaches and facilities. If at all possible, wean it down to 4 or 5 and then visit each, preferably during a show. There’s probably10+ can’t miss facilities based on your description, so how YOU fit with the group and the coach (take a lesson if possible - teaching styles differ) will probably be the deciding factor. i second cathy weischoff and carriage station farm. great group of people and a great barn. cathy is a great instructor!!!

I ride with Cathy, whenever I can get down there. Her covered arena is lovely and HUGE. It is very nice when it gets hot out, because the breeze can blow through and you stay out of the sun. Cathy has nice cross country jumps. She takes groups to school at the KHP on cross country schooling days, too. Of course, most of the instructors in our area will do that.

I know this is an old thread also but since it was brought back to top, does anyone know if these barns allow you to just trailer in for lessons?
