Horse Boots - Veredus

I am looking for a pair of boots that’ll protect my horses legs while jumping, but also keep them cool with some sort of ventilation system. I’ve settled on the veredus carbon gel vento, and was curious if anyone else has tried them and how they liked them compared to other boots. Is there a noticeable difference with keeping the leg cooler and how is it protection wise? I’ve also only ever used the velcro kind of boots and have never used the straps, is it hard to figure out how tight or loose they should be? Are the velcro straps more forgiving or is it pretty much the same either way?

You might post this in the HJ forum - I bet they would have a lot of suggestions!

Hi taylor I am a representative/rider for Shires that makes a competitor. So my bias is that my brand offers a boot of equal quality for a fraction of the price, and you can shop my commissionable link below.

But, non biased opinion on the differences between velcro and clasps. The clasp closure is considered the premium closure over a velcro. It’s more expensive to manufacture and offers the following: It’s easy to clean and cosmetically its on-trend. The downside to velcro is that if particles get in the velcro they can be difficult to remove . If you use the velcro every day, over time the velcro can loose it’s “stick.”

The upside, is the velcro is easier to manufacture so you can save your money for an equally safe boot that might not last as long.

From a fit standpoint, normally the clasp closures have three holes to choose from. I haven’t found that the boots (either Shires or Veredus) have any issue with fit as the strap is forgiving.

I would argue most (myself included) compete with the clasp for those reasons if not primarily, costmetically the clasps are more attractive.

I’m linking the Shires comparison if you want to review. I like the outer shell is perforated to release heat across the tendon sheath, and it’s under $100

I’ve owned both Shires and Veredus. I like both, but the Shires is better value for the money. I’m just as happy with those as I am with Veredus.
