Horse Days 2011

Horse Days 2011 will bring a three-day family-friendly equine exposition to the Boone County Fairgrounds in Belvidere, IL from August 19-21.

Horse Days 2011 highlights from six arenas include a PRCA Rodeo, Professional Horse Pulls sanctioned by the Illinois Horse Pullers Association, Ultimate Horsemen’s Challenge Race, Hunter/Jumper Schooling Show, Gamblers Choice Jumper Classic, Mini Event with Dressage Rider Test, Mounted Games, Breyer Model Horse Show, Equi-Soccer, Horse Trailer Rodeo, Late Night Barrel Racing, and a Wisconsin Open Horse Show.

Horse Days 2011 will also offer an American Bull Dog Conformation Show, Dog Agility Demonstrations, Iron Dog Competition, Disc Dog Competition, Puppy and Dog Obedience Classes, Petting Zoo and more.

A pancake breakfast will start each day with all proceeds being donated to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Cowboy Church with Crystal Lyons is scheduled for Sunday morning.

So far, these popular clinicians have joined the roster for Horse Days 2011: Steve Lantvit, Mike Branch, Dan Burke, Rick Burten, T.J. Clibborn, Dan Grunewald, Harmony Horsemanship, Dave Kluge, Tracy Porter, Jamie Price, Julie Realy, Mel Haas, Donna Irvin, Rob Robinson, Mary Vanderloop, Stefanie Reinhold, and Juli Lynch. Presenters represent a variety of equestrian pursuits: Holistic Horse Health, Nutrition for both horse and dog, Dressage, Driving, Eventing, Jumping, Natural Horsemanship, Reining and Rodeo.

Workshops will discuss colt starting, composting, horse camping, stall building and other DIY projects, trailer backing and DOT requirements, and many other topics of interest to horse keepers, farm keepers and pet owners.

“Our goal is to create a weekend show that is fun, educational and affordable,” said Brian Lamb, Horse Days 2011 coordinator. “This will be a great weekend for people to bring their horses and dogs to participate, or just come and watch.”

In addition, a growing roster of vendors will showcase a full range of animal products and equipment in an on-site trade show particularly for horses and dogs, with many exclusive Horse Days 2011 promotions.

Admission to Horse Days 2011 will be $7.00 (minus a $2.00 discount for equine breed association members). Seniors (over age 65) and children (under age 12) will be admitted free. Both rustic and full campsites are available on the event grounds.

Vendor spots may still be reserved for Horse Days 2011.
