the update is that the riders are all recovering well.
the horse who died ran into a tree / instant death, rider seriously injured – all before the first vet check too … its still unclear what caused this –
there was a 40% pull on this years ride, which … management hails as a great success (imagine that) – since its usually over 50% — wow-- :eek:
the main questions to that equation are > were the horses suitable to even start ? the riders? is it more that the teams were unqualified to even enter? rather than it being a difficult trail?
overall, Tevis has deaths – a horse fell and was put down (hours later) in training – sad but its a dangerous trail .
horses are also leased to new riders so they can experience Tevis – professionals showcase their stock so it appears somewhat easy … so those might be a few of the flaws of this ride.
However, they did have awesome coverage – their webcast was fantasic , and followed all riders through Each check, and mapped well for the onlooker …
