Horse exercise books reviews/recommendations

I’m looking at ordering these two books and wanted to see if anyone has any reviews of them, or any recommendations to ones that you’ve liked!

I haven’t read her book yet, but I’ve ridden with Ali Kermeen and she has a great way of explaining and breaking things down, and super knowledgeableabout working equitation. Thanks for the reminder, I’ve been meaning to get that book!

I have 101 Dressage Exercises, and recently bought Equine Fitness both by Jec Aristotle Ballou. She’s co-written 101 Western Dressage Exercises as well.

There is an older book on dressage/eventing/jumping that deserves a good look, even though it is old–“The Rider Forms the Horse” by Udo Burger and Otto Zietzschmann.

I’m sorry that I have not read it all yet, I got Covid-19 around when I bought the book and this book is sort of dense, integrating the horse’s build/muscles/posture with what the rider does, and how the rider can develop the horse physically. It has the why certain muscles need work as well as how to develop the horse’s physique so that the training works well for that horse.

If I were still able to train young horses this book probably would be one of my “bibles”, adding it to the Forward Seat and US Cavalry based books I used when I could still train young horses.

If the trainer does not develop the correct muscles properly the horse cannot deliver the results the rider desires when riding at an upper level.
