I don’t ride my just starting out green beans (not even going BN) any different than my horse going Advanced. I do some relaxed hacking walking on the buckle, but for my trot and canter work…I ride with a contact, I want them stretching over the top of their back and pushing from behind and straight…but also not rumbling along on their forehands. NOT collective work…more open free/fwd movement…but I want their balance correct for jumping xc. They don’t get stronger riding incorrectly…but I also make sure to give them lots of walking on a loose rein…that is both for them mentally and physically.

I just recently switched over to the draft cross world after only having experience with thoroughbreds. What are some differences conditioning wise aside from the fact that typically most tbs are more fit?
