What are the best places to advertise a top equitation/ 3 ring horse ? With the some big shows cancelled, where would be the best place to take a horse for sale? Tryon? Kentucky? Horse was under contract at wef the week it closed down due to covid 19 ( and like many sales at the time- buyer backed out) and don’t know where to go to sell him now.
I’d say, there’s plenty of horses I see move through bigeq in the six figure range, notably some from very well known programs that have been to indoors, Devon, Won at PF or JHF, etc.
I think Facebook and Instagram actually moves quite a few as Stormy said, but not sending the horse to a program to be sold and advertised leaves you with the inter webs.
Can someone help me with Facebook? I have already found a horse but am technologically challenged. This may help people currently looking. What specific sites/groups to look under? I am a Facebook member but don’t understand.
join the groups you would be interested in. Some examples are hunters and jumpers under 10k, dressage horses under 10k, North American warmblood horse connection, North American warmblood s.
The sites mentioned above, and the Hunter, Jumper & Equitation Unicorns group on FB all get good traffic. There was a WEF and Ocala Horses for Consideration group that was pretty active as well, but it seems to have slowed down now that we are further removed from the circuits. As far as the shows, Bruce’s Field in Aiken, the bigger weeks of Tryon (think international derby week and the week right before that), Brownland and Kentucky. HITS Chicago is also running right now. However, your bigger problem about taking the horse to the bigger shows right now is that most of them are on a wait-list basis at this point, so if you are planning to get the horse out to a show, you need to be seeing if you can even get a stall. Aiken is sold out this month, I believe Tryon’s shows may be as well. Not sure about Brownland and Kentucky. But honestly, if it is truly a top equitation horse, and has the record to show that, word of mouth and video to the right trainers may get traction as well. Presumably if it was at WEF it has the record, but if not and it just has the skill set, you are right that you’ll probably need to get it to some of the shows and get video of it doing the job. Good luck!
Horse has great record in the equitation ( but it’s not extensive ( started in equitation ring this January) but has already racked up multiple wins in the equitation, medal, Maclay, and hunt seat classes both at WEF and Bruce’s Field. I had to find a junior to do the equitation ( my background is eventing so even me doing adult equitation wasn’t going to happen 😂). Horse has a great record in the jumpers with me in the saddle to 1.20 as well. I evented him until mid 2019 before switching him completely to h/j.
Horse has a junior who is going to ride him at the NCHJA finals in two weeks at Bruce’s Field, if he isn’t leased or sold prior.
We have requested stalls for Tryon with the barn he will be going with. Luckily we are local to Aiken, so don’t need stabling for anything at Bruces.
