Horse hair bracelets

Does anyone have one of these? I seen a ton of sites who do them but I’d like recommendations. I lost my mare suddenly last week. Got a cut of her mane and tail and I really want one done.

So sorry for your loss. It took me 6 years to find a maker and I finally selected Enter at A. Her bracelets are very durable and unique. I can wear it every day without worrying about it breaking.

COTH poster Spacy Tracy has beautiful options and I have had several pieces commissioned from her. They are all gorgeous and Tracy is wonderful to work with. Her FB page is:

She also makes resin pieces that can be worn as pendants for a more durable, day-to-day option.

She did a beautiful job on my bracelet, which is made with hair from each of my 3 current horses. I ordered her style #005, which I think is more of a classic look. I struggled to find a horse hair bracelet that I actually wanted to wear because it looked nice in addition to being sentimental. The one I bought is perfect.

Sorry for your loss.

I second the Ponylocks recommendation. I bought style 024. Its beautiful and wears very well.

Thirding Ponylocks - I have style 12 and style 24 (which is a leather bracelet with an inlaid braid).

Penny is awesome, and was super patient with me when I paid for a set, but didn’t end up actually getting the hair to her for about a year.

I used IM Silver. However, if I ever have money I don’t know what to do with I’ll get something from Solenaro Designs

I had a beautiful bracelet done by heart and sole jewelry. The artist (Tina) also sent me a very touching note back with the bracelet that made me feel like she was part of the process of remembering the horse it came from.

Trish at galladesigns.com made a beautiful bracelet for me. Also had Ponylocks make a watch. Both are wonderful.

One of my friends made one out of her horse’s mane and my lesson horse (they were boyfriend-girlfriend, she said). I think she just fishtail-braided them together, and they looked pretty good (for hair jewelry…)

To me, pottery is way longer-lasting than a bracelet, and absolutely gorgeous. I saved just a bit of my late mare’s hair and it’s lasted several years’ worth of pottery.

You may be able to find a studio (paint your own pottery places have become popular in recent years) that would let you make your own pot and finish it in your horse’s hair… give it that personal memory touch. Or, claypony.com will make one for you from your horse’s hair. Leftover hair could be braided and wrapped around the lip of the pot.

Just a thought! I’m sorry for your loss.

I have a Ponylocks (#024) bracelet, too. My trainer also has belt (#025) from them. Really great to work with.

So sorry you lost your girl. <3 <3

I have a PonyLocks, love it.
