Horse hair braided INTO a horse shoe?

I did a search but couldn’t quite find what I’m looking for…

Years ago I got my Dad a gift of some of his horse’s hair braided down into the nail groove of a horse shoe, with some other decorations etc. That lady is now only doing browbands and such.

I searched FB and Etsy and can’t find anyone who does this anymore. Google image searches return results from the UK only. Does anyone know of any crafters who braid hair into a shoe? I’ve found some with hair wrapped around the toe and secured with a bobble, but they are almost always in a Native American/dreamcatcher sort of style. Examples of ornate and plain that I have in mind with the braid inset.

Not sure if she normally does these, but she is very talented and may be able to try. I currently am awaiting 2 bracelets and a totem from her with my mare’s tail hair (she died July 2021).

I think nearly any maker of horse hair jewelry is ABLE to do it, I just want to find someone who commonly does it or has…

Unfortunately no suggestions but just wanted to say thank you for sharing this idea. I’ve got tails from two departed horses that have been sitting in a box for years because I can’t figure out what I want to do with them. This is one of my favorite ideas so far!

I got my Dad one, it was great, super pretty. His horse isn’t deceased yet, and if I had my druthers, I’d get another 10 years out of him  He’s basically mine except for when the annual vet bill comes due haha. This is it, masculine enough to be a gift a dude yanno.

I actually just saw this person recommended in a fb group for horse hair keepsakes. One of her pinned posts is very similar to the ones you’ve shared pics of. What are the chances?

This is timely for me as well. My mare died last Feb at 30, I had her since she was 3 off the track.

Like I said, I’m not sure if she does them or not. But I know the work she does is amazing. I would reach out to her and see if she does them.

Oooh I like that!
My little mare died at 24 in October '21, I bought her at the track when she was 3. Some (15?) years ago I started doing horsehair bracelets on a dare, and I am glad I made one with her tail hair at the time, way before she died. But I wish I had seen the horseshoe idea then.
