Horse hair jewelry?
Wow those are pricey!
Yes indeed, but I think weaving a ribbon of horse hair by hand takes a lot of time, it’s not like braiding, and the finishing is different. On their Facebook page, you can see Caracole has woven a bracelet with the horse hair of Hickstead. A guarantee of quality ?
But you’re right, something for every taste and every pocketbook !

I have one of their bracelets from my mare’s tail and I love it. Beautiful, not expensive, quick turnaround

She does pottery, jewelry, etc. The candy dish on her website with the dressage horse outline on it is the one I have, very nice

Windhorse Designs does lovely work: http://www.windhorsedesigns.com/

These leather and hair bracelets are $27

They are very difficult to braid. And it’s more than that. It’s sorting each strand, making sure it’s uniform, clean, and getting the braiding just right. If each strand isn’t grouped right, it looks terrible. Then add the cost of ordering beads and fittings that fit that width, and anything under $40 isn’t charging enough. I charge $40, and that’s because I’m fairly new to it and haven’t branched out much yet.

I’ve never seen a cuff horse hair bracelet before. Love it!

We have had great success using Pony Locks before and Penny was great to work with.

We recently got this bracelet and love it for it’s timeless elegance:

Pam is nearby and was also super great to work with. It would be hard to go wrong with either of these ladies.

Would you feel comfortable sharing the price range the cuff? It is absolutely stunning.

I’ve got several pieces from http://nannasalmi.com/
Absolutely lovely. I’ve got some silver pieces with no gems, so the prices we very reasonable too for woven work!

(House of Salmi, posted above, was Nanna Salmi’s web person, who then stole her ideas and designs)

Loving some of the other places posted here too!

Oh yes, I know it’s a lot of work! I used to sell horsehair jewelry with sterling silver fittings and semi-precious stones and charged from $55 to $85 depending on the piece, and people used to tell me I wasn’t charging nearly enough
Had to close my Etsy shop because I had too many orders and not time - between regular jewelry making, my family, and oh yes, my full time job…lol

Back when I was doing it there weren’t nearly as many offerings as there are now. Some of the work posted on this thread is amazing.

Any experience with cottage tails? So far I can’t bear to open the container with fil’s tail hairs in it, hopefully some day. The bracelet love is on cottage tails website

I know there have been other threads on this, but I’m looking for recommendations from folks who have actually gotten horse hair jewelry made.

I am quickly approaching the time when I believe I will be putting my first horse down. I’ll take basically all of his tail, but he’s got cool highlights that I’d like to have in whatever I get made, so I don’t want to waste them on jewelry that won’t last.

So what have folks on here gotten? What companies/people would you recommend? Ideally I’d like something with horse hair and silver, thinking a bracelet, even if it’s just a braid with caps on the ends and a clasp to hold it on my wrist, possibly a key chain, maybe both? But I’m open to anything, and honestly don’t mind spending $$$ to get something I love, as this is my baby.
I have had some awesome horse hair jewelry made by Virginia Whip Works. They have bracelets, fly whisks, and horse hair pendants. (Which I think are really, really cool. You should look on the website so you can see the pictures, me talking about it doesn’t really do it justice  ) They also have a very good reputation and they have great customer service! The website is http://virginiawhipworks.com if you or anyone else is interested! Hope this helped!
